Rebecca has a varied background in human and veterinary
medicine, as well as a degree in Business. This background,
combined with her many years of experience working in
different roles at a local general practice, makes her a great
addition to our growing work family. From her days as a
veterinary assistant to her days as a clinic manager, Rebecca
has learned a lot and applies those lessons to her daily life.
Not one to miss an opportunity to be aware and grateful,
Rebecca is thankful for the wonderful experience she has
gained through her years in general practice and looks
forward to adding pages to this new and amazing chapter
in her life.
Rebecca was born in Dalton, Georgia. Even though she
grew up in North Georgia, she has roots in the Tennessee
Valley that span many generations. An avid reader, novice
local historian and experienced genealogist, Rebecca
appreciates the beauty and history of the Appalachian
Mountains and Cumberland Plateau.
While she is currently fostering a love of travel in her
children, Rebecca hopes that they will always think of the
Tennessee Valley as home.
While trying to overcome a fear of flying, Rebecca has
recently begun taking some of her children on plane rides
to different states for only a weekend visit to see places
beyond this area. However, she also takes them to beautiful
local places, so they never forget the amazing sights in their
own backyard.

Rebecca, Daniel, Cady and Josie
Rebecca, Cady and Josie
Rebecca and her husband, Daniel, share five children....
four daughters and one amazingly outnumbered son.
Last year they welcomed their first grandchild. They also
share three cats - Tokyo, Happy and Rosie Bee - as well as
four crazy chickens - Red Velvet, VeeVee, Vicki and
Birdbrain. The family enjoys camping, metal detecting,
anything outdoors, as well as just being together.
Welcome, Rebecca!

VCSG Blood Donor Program
At VCSG, we are able to offer transfusions with blood and blood component therapy such as plasma
to pets in need. Depending on the exact issue and severity of the pets' needs, we offer packed red
blood cells and fresh frozen plasma shipped in from blood banks around the country. We also offer
fresh whole blood from a wide variety of staff-owned animals. These animals are screened to meet
all of the criteria to be a donor.

Internal Medicine
We routinely perform in-house blood typing for dogs and cats so we ensure the recipient is getting
the correct blood type needed. While dogs have twelve groups of blood types and cats have three, in
the ER setting we generally test dogs for Negative or Positive and cats for type A or type B. Did you
know 90% of domesticated cats are type A, while exotic breeds, such as Siamese or Persians, are
more likely to be a B blood type, which is a rare type, with AB being the most rare?
Our resident donors are available 24/7/365 and can donate up to once a month. They sometimes do
require light sedation for the procedure, but once they are awake, we offer a tasty high calorie canned
food as a treat to thank them and help them bounce back more quickly. We have quite a few dogs
and cats in the donor program, so we don't have to use them too often!
Our specialists and ER docs at VCSG use their expertise to decide when a pet requires a transfusion
and what type is needed to get them back on the road to recovery.
