This initiative aims to improve students' literacy and numeracy skills through a targeted approach in the early years of schooling. The instructional leader will play a key role in building staff skills and knowledge in teaching and assessing literacy and numeracy. For our school this will mean an extra teacher that will work in our K-2 classrooms providing another layer of assistance for our students and support to our staff. Bounce Back Awards It is wonderful to see students starting to receive their Bounce Back Award and bouncy balls. Students who receive this award have collected all 5 of their value pencils and have worked extremely hard all year to follow our school values. Well done to the 8 students who have already received their award. I look forward to seeing many more students receive them over the last few weeks of the term. This program runs each day from Monday to Friday for 2 weeks, starting on 28 th November and finishing on 9 th December. We recommend all Kindergarten to Year 4 students participate in this program but please note we are currently limited to 72 participants. As this program is extremely important the school and P&C have worked hard to subsidise the cost to just $30 for the first child, $20 for the second and $10 for each additional family member. This is a significant subsidy and will only apply until 22nd November or until all places are full. STEM Day Last Thursday 12 students attended the Hastings-Macleay STEM Exploration Day at Melville High School. The day was designed to showcase and share the exciting STEM learning experiences happening in our local public schools. It was an excellent day and a great experience for our students who are extremely keen to share what they have learnt.

A reminder to parents to notify the school about your child’s health We welcome information from parents about your child's health, even if

you are not requesting specific support from our school. Our school asks

for medical information when you enrol your child. It is also

important that you let us know if your child’s health care needs change or

if a new health condition develops.

Information about allergies, medical conditions such as asthma and dia-

betes and other health care related issues (including prior conditions

such as medical procedures in the last 12 months) should be provided to

the school by parents. Please provide this information in writing to the

principal. This will greatly assist our school in planning to support your

child’s health and wellbeing.

Please also remember to notify staff in the school office of any changes

to your contact details or to the contact details of other people

nominated as emergency contacts.

We appreciate your assistance in this regard and assure you that any in-

formation you provide the school will be stored securely and will only be

used or disclosed in order to support your son or daughter’s health

needs or as otherwise required by law.
