Every activity in school life plays a significant role inthe development of the students. Co-curricularactivities are meant to bring social skills, intellectualskills, moral values, personality progress and characterdevelopment in the students. In Ken Robinson's words'Creativity is as important now in education as literacyand we should treat it with the same status.' It leadsto a happier, healthier and a cohesive environment inthe school.
From The Counsellor’s Desk…….
Middle school years are crucial for parenting as it is the time when parents need to prepare their children for the world. Here are some points to focus on – The importance of GRIT – children who learn to focus on
attitude and effort work harder towards their goals. As parents, emphasize the process over end result. Focus on practice, patience and perseverance.
The importance of INDEPENDENCE – Promote independence in their lives by allowing them to do their own chores. They will learn problem solving and conflict resolution this way. Children who are over pampered will get an unpleasant reality check in the real world.
The importance of PRESENCE – Encourage the habit of putting 100% involvement in whatever they do. Let your child know the real meaning of commitment, passion and compassion. Help them become aware of their feelings and give ways to handle their feelings in constructive ways.
The importance of DISCIPLINE – Discipline is never outdated. Discipline is not for others but for self. Let your child learn to discipline himself/herself one step at a time.
Best wishes…
