Who doesn’t love a Snowman? We just love this snowman block designed by Lynn Woodard for the second year at Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop.

Our block is a simple snowball block using the theme fabric and the blue snowflake fabric. Appliqué’ your snowman in the center of the block. Here’s where the fun begins. Dress your snowman up with mittens and vest, scarf and hat. Use buttons, seed beads and embroidery floss to embellish the carrot nose, buttons and face. Each and every snowman will be different, just like each and every snowflake. Dress him to your own liking. We are giving you all the pattern pieces and ideas for dressing your snowman in the pattern packet which you will receive at our shop during shop hop.

Thank you Lynn for providing the idea, the design and the excitement for making our 2012 Shop Hop full of surprises. We hope you will visit our shop with your passport during June 20-24, 2012 to pick up your snowman block.

A special thanks to Anita Peluso for the design and pattern layout for your shop hop insert and to Diane Stevens for all her great ideas for Shop Hop 2012. Our Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop Staff is the best!

“ I made this snowman block so that you could dress him up with mittens, vests, scarves and hats. I like using small buttons, seed beads and floss for his nose, face and belly.”

One of our favorite excursions is our annual shop hop bus trips. We are pleased to announce that we will offer those trips again this year on Wednesday and Saturday, June 20th and 23rd for the 14th Annual Western Washington Quilt Shop Hop.

We will leave from Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop at 8am for the trip Northbound. We will visit as many as 14 shops from Woodinville to Lynden and back in Area 1 of the the Shop Hop guide, see page 6 of the flyer.

Cost of the trip is $62, cash or check. Please bring a small cooler with your food and refreshments for the day. We stop at Quilt Shops only. Expected time to arrive

back to the shop is 8:30pm. Riders are encouraged to get dropped off at the shop to reduce the number of parked cars in our parking lot. Thank you.

Check out all the great information in the shop hop flyer to plan your trips on subsequent days. Our bus trip goes north, but we encourage you to take your own trips to the other areas by referring to the the flyer.

As you travel on the shop hop, you will have your passport stamped at each shop ad will receive a kit for a quilt block that will include the block pattern created by each shop along with three fabrics: one of the theme fabric, one from a shop hop coordinate, and one of the shops choosing. Some shops will offer finishing kits and that is up to the individual shops.

54 shops participating in this 14th year, so be sure to pick up your passports the first of June at any of the area shops. Get your passports stamped at each shop during shop hop and enter a completed passport of at least 16 shops to the drawing in order to be eligible for prizes. Pacific West Quilt Show in Tacoma,August 2012.The biggest quilt exhibition of the year held in the Pacific Northwest with entries from the U.S. and Canada

Sandra Leichner couldn’t have said it better when she reviewed the 2011 show in Tacoma.

“The show has the same wonderful inviting experience it has always had and the new

venue is quite nice.  Tacoma surprised me with its very trendy area surrounding the convention center and the Pacific Grill Restaurant had the MOST amazing food!  This is an upscale restaurant with a very comfortable vibe and mouth watering menu.  The Faux Gras appetizer was AMAZING.  The hotels were in easy (really easy) walking distance and so were restaurants.

Thank you APWQ board members, show manager Elizabeth Spannring and volunteers for an amazing experience and keeping the soul of the show in tact and strong.  I know how hard you all worked to bring this together and I thank you for your Herculean efforts. I had a fantastic time and am excited for next year.  I am already waiting to

book my room and catch up with both the new friends I met and the old friends I enjoy catching up with.

The show is now on an annual basis from the every two year rotation of the past.  I highly recommend this show as an experience that is one not to be missed if you love quilts, quilting, laughing, meeting new people and sharing what you love among like minded people.”

Now you know why we’re so anxious for the 2012 regional show. With such a stellar representation of talent from the U.S. and Canada, we are so proud and pleased to the have the Pacific West Quilt Show to Tacoma again this year.

I invite you to ride with us to the show in a comfortable limousine leaving from Woodinville on Saturday morning and arriving back later in the afternoon with lunch at the Pacific Grill. Experience this fantastic city and it landmarks on Broadway. Cost of trip to be determined. Please stay tuned to our website.
