There is currently great demand for aluminium from industry in North America. The key region for aluminium production there is Canada – third in the international list of producers after China and Russia. Just what opportunities the North American market holds will be become apparent at the first Canadian International Aluminium Conference (CIAC) in Montreal with accompa-nying trade show in October.

ALUMINIUM is also planning to be at the launch: in our International Pavilion at the CIAC we will be offering international industry a new forum on the Canadian market. The theme reveals where the emphasis of the new event will lie: „Aluminium: the game changer“.

The demand for industrial metals is rising again – not only in North America, but also worldwide. Aluminium in particular is currently experiencing a new boom. Experts believe that the global consumption of aluminium is set to increase by 6 percent per year over the next three to four years.

The reason for this is advancing industrialisation and the resulting infrastructure development in the emerging markets of Asia and South America. Increasing use by the lightweight construction industry is also boosting demand.

The main international focal point of the aluminium industry is and remains China where the sector will be meeting in the next few days at ALUMINIUM CHINA. The fair has now joined the ranks of the established global materials events, as shown by the high level of international participation. Germany is attending with 44 exhibitors – making it once again the largest exhibitor nation after China.

Hall 9 is directly linked to the North Entrance of ALUMINIUM and is devoted to upstream aspects such as the primary and secondary production of aluminium. Aluminium smelting works and their suppliers of tech-nology, equipment and services will be showcasing their products in Hall 9. They constitute the starting point of the thematic segmentation covering the entire aluminium value chain. For the first time this section will also include a pavilion for „Aluminium Recycling“.

For the forth time primary production companies are being given the option of taking part in an impressive joint stand which represents an attractive presentation forum at ALUMINIUM 2014. Up to 10 exhibitors will be presenting technologies for alumina and aluminium production. The pavilion is intended above all for all suppliers and technology providers to the primary industry.

A full-service package which includes ancillary costs and various other extra services is offered for participation in the pavilion. These extra services include the following: fully fitted stand, additional target-group oriented marketing.

The ALUMINIUM‘s move to Düsseldorf represented a milestone in the event‘s development – and one which firmly cemented the event‘s status as THE business and leads platform for the aluminium industry. For the first time more than 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world are expected to be present in halls 9 to 14 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition

Centre in 2014. A good reason, we feel, to take a closer look at the theme structure of ALUMINIUM and also the individual themes of the leading world trade fair as a means of providing clearer orientation for visitors and exhibitors. We‘ll be posting more in the coming newsletter editions in the run-up to ALUMINIUM 2014.

Hall 10 Casting, heat treatment and technologies

A thematic continuation of Hall 9, Hall 10 and its exhibitors provide an overview of the area of aluminium processing, especially aluminium casting and recycling. One of the main focuses here is on technology suppliers such as producers of smelting and industrial furnaces, or intralogistics systems for transportation of the melt, and also the field of refractory construction. There is also a special area devoted to the lightweight material magnesium, used as an alloy element for aluminium.

Magnesium Area

The Magnesium Area is once again being featured as a special show area at ALUMINIUM 2014 and is located centrally in Hall 10. The purpose of the integrated area is to promote the material and to provide an overview of the magnesium sector. Magnesium plays a crucial role especially in the hardening of aluminium alloys.

Roughly 20 exhibitors from the following fields will be presenting their products and services on an area measuring 160 sqm: raw and primary materials, semi-finished and end products, surface refinement, manufacturers of machinery and industrial plant, accessories for production and further processing such as casting, and the refinement of magnesium product and related services.

Recycling Area

Serving as a supplement to the new Recycling Pavilion in Hall 9, which is aimed primarily at smaller companies in this growth segment, is the Recycling Area in Hall 10. Companies in the field of aluminium recycling can present their goods and services in an area covering 1,500 sqm. The range is aimed at suppliers and all companies involved in the aluminium recycling industry such as scrap dealers, manufacturers of sorting equipment, crushing plant, briquette-making machinery, remelting systems and suppliers of secondary aluminium.

product solutions

Supported by the BDG (German Foundry Industry Federation), there will once again be a Foundry Pavilion in Hall 10 in 2014. The objective of this impressive joint pavilion is to present the companies in a transparent and networked form in an exhibition area covering 800 sqm. The pro-ducts and services being displayed are aimed at compa-nies from the following fields: sand, permanent mould and die casting foundries, moulds and accessories, alloys, post-casting treatment, conveying and handling systems, complete packages, casting technology.

A full-service package is offered for participation in the pavilion. The ancillary costs and other extra services are included in the package price. In comparison to a standard exhibition stand these extra services include: fully fitted stand, information counter with hostess, communal area with catering (including refreshment voucher) and additional target-group oriented marketing.

First-rate conference with top international

participants

The thermoprocess industry around the world is looking forward to a first-rate new conference with an international line-up in 2013. ITPS 2013 – the International Therm-process Summit – is attracting capable participants and speakers to the CCD Süd Congress Center in Düsseldorf from 9 - 10 July. The high quality of the participants is apparent: experts from Germany, the USA, China, Japan, India or Mexico will be presenting an in-depth review of the latest developments in the industrial furnace field. It goes without saying that energy efficiency is a subject that will be given high priority in this context, while new business models for the thermoprocess industry, gigantic emerging and new markets in Asia, future energy models in the USA, China’s steel industry, developments in the global automotive industry and innovations in heat treatment e.g. for wind energy and more efficient drives will be central features of ITPS 2013 too.

At Messe Düsseldorf, ITPS is part of the “Bright World of Metals” trade fair product group, for which an experi-enced project team headed by Director Friedrich-Georg Kehrer is responsible. Gerrit Nawracala (0049211/4560-568, [email protected]) is available to answer any questions about ITPS 2013 and to help companies that are interested in the event.
