Dear Parents We would like to wish good luck to all the pre-school children who are leaving the nursery to start at their new schools. They will all be missed. Don’t forget our Summer Fair will be on the 16th July 11.00 – 1.00, we are still looking for parent helpers and raffle prizes. Fotex will be coming to take photos of the children on the 2nd and 3rd August. If your child does not attend these sessions or has left for school please feel free to still bring them in between 11.00- 12.00. Festival All rooms will be celebrating Dharma Day, Dharma Day marks the beginning of the Buddha's teaching. The word Dharma can be translated as truth and is the term used for the path to enlightenment, or the Buddhist teaching. Baby 1 We will be exploring different texture, pictures and images. In line with the children’s interests we will be making good use of the garden, messy play and balls. Many of the children in Baby 1 really enjoy music so we will be using instruments, dancing and singing songs.

Baby 2 The children in Baby 2 love to post and make marks so we have created a post office, please could we have any old envelopes, stamps etc. We will be doing lots of beach related activities including sand and water play, looking at holiday brochures, floating and sinking with boats, looking at animals found at the beach, playing with other things we take to the beach, bucket and spade, boat, arm bands, lilo etc. We also hope to arrange a trip to the beach. We will also be celebrating Dharma day by enjoying some yoga and cooking with vegetables. The children are currently practicing using knives and forks and drinking from cups. Baby 1 are also visiting us this month. Please can parents check their child’s pocket and please come into the room when picking up or dropping off.

Kids @ Worthing Nursery – Newsletter July 2010

Toddlers This month toddlers will be looking at the beach and will take a trip there. They will also be having picnics on the field as well as enjoying some races. We will be using the big paddling pool to see what floats and sinks (not ourselves!!) Toddlers really enjoy the story sacks so we will be using them at circle time. We will be using the tunnels and tents for playing hide and seek and learning about in and out. Pre-school This month we will be having our leavers party and wishing goodbye and good luck to all the children starting school on 14th July. We also hope to arrange a visit to the park and/or beach. We will be having a car wash with the children this is because the children just love cleaning and scrubbing things in the garden so we thought they could try it on a larger scale!! We will be having a healthy eating week when we will try different foods and be cooking healthy snacks. The children can enjoy making playdough and playing some pirate games. Please can all parents ensure they bring book bags back before leaving for school. Forest School The children in forest school will be enjoying cooking outside and hopefully be having more frequent visits during the holidays. Shoe Collection We have a box in the hall for old unwanted shoes, they will be distributed to people who really need them and we get £5 per box. So please bring in any unwanted shoes and pop them in the box. Thanks.
