The Office of Students’ Affair at Indus Universityachieved another milestone with successful executionof a five-day Cultural & Sports festival under the ban-ner of Instincts’2017 from 2nd – 5th March’17 in theuniversity campus. The inauguration ceremony waspresided by Cdr M P Felix (Retd), Director StudentAffairs accompanying the Chief Guest Mr. Sumeet-Tembe, an International Tennis Player and the Guestof honour, Mr. Himalaya, a Gujarat Ranji TrophyCricketer, both alumni of Indus University along withfaculty members and students.

Instincts comprised of Literati (Literary), Aakar (Fine Arts), Rhapsody (Performing Arts), andCollympics’17 (Sports) with the finale being nothing short of terrific including popular DJ Shaan ofTomorrowland fame. The jury members for most inter college events were invited from variedfields & expertise. The finale with Rhapsody’17 entailed Performing Arts events namely Dance,Song, Skit and Fashion Show. The university campus came alive with splendid performanceswhich left the audience, comprising of dignitaries, corporate entrepreneurs, faculty members andstudents, awestruck and asking for more.
On the concluding eve of the festival, DJ Shaan the first Indian to perform at Tomorrowland,performed live at Indus University Campus. In total around 1200 EDM fans from across the city ofAhmedabad attended the concert. The event was sponsored by ICE, Cash back partner: CashBasket, Fortune Basmati Rice, CADD Centre, Tripology, Printing Partner: Siddhi Printech &Online Ticketing Partner: www.meraticket.com. The event was managed by 4 Heads Events &Entertainment.

Healthy Campus Initiative
Healthy Campus is an initiative of the Narcotics Control Bureau for the education institutionsof the state of Gujarat in India, to help the campus community get the most out of their yearsspent at the educational institutions. The initiative aims to be led by the students whoundertake activities to promote healthy living on campus. The initiative has identified sevenkey areas, which include - Healthy living, Social consciousness, Stress management,Building self-esteem, Developing critical thinking, Developing soft skills & Living a drug freelife. As a part of this initiative a seminar was organized for all students and faculty membersof Indus University on Tuesday 28 March 2017 to highlight existential threat that drugs poseto our society. Mr. Hari Om Gandhi, Zonal director, NCB addressed all students and facultyof the university. The session was interactive with students clarifying many myths aboutaforementioned topics and educating them with the expert advice coming their way.Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has sought support of educational institutions to curb suchmenace in the society by forming Healthy Campus committee.

In the times when everysecond tragedies due to aroad mishap, Road Safety isof paramount importance fortoday’s youth so on 16th
March 2017 Indus Universityorganized a special experttalk for its students by Mr.Amit Khatri, a renowned RoadSafety Consultant. Like agood communicator Mr. Khatrieffortlessly made hispresentation on Road Safetymuch interesting throughvariety of videos and imagesto drive home many poignantlesser known facts about roadsafety which made the entiresession very engaging and
interactive. As the acronymsuggests, Mr. Khatriimplored every young mindin the audience to Seek,Aim, Follow, Ensure, Teach,Yield (SAFETY) becausemaking city roads safer foreveryone starts with each ofus.

The entire community of IndusUniversity including studentsfrom all programs, facultym e m b e r s , t e a c h i n ga s s o c i a t e s , r e s e a r c hassociates and staff cametogether for a noble cause on29th March 2017. A blooddonation camp was organizedat the Indus University campusin association with CivilHospital, Ahmedabad in which192 people donated blood andconsiderable units werecollected. The camp has beena tradition at the universitycampus for the last eight yearssince the inception of theinstitution. Every year thecamp is organized with ahumble motive of creatinggeneral awareness amongyouth on campus. This yearthe blood donation camp waso rga n i ze d b y s t u d en tvolunteers namely VitragShah, Raviraj Chauhan, AkashThakkar, Kishan Ponda,
Karan Sarodia, ,VaishaliGangwani, Sumit Vachhani, &Jinendra Mehta with laboratoryassistants & administrativestaff, who participated whole-heartedly to lend meaning tothe cause.

Theinaugural was on 24th March’17 where in two articlestitled ‘How the GPS Rewiresour Brain’ and ‘Why the For-Profit Education Fails’ wered iscussed by twe lveparticipants. Studentsshared variety of insights ontheir reading of the two pre-determined articles alongwith brainstorming sessionabout their interest genres inbooks and movies for furtherfruitful planning underVivechanam. More numberof students must takeadvantage of this creativeopportunity to realize thatbooks are a uniquelyportable magic.
