PRINCIPAL’S NEWS SYDNEY TRIP Mrs Hall and myself, are having a wonderful time in Sydney with some of the Year 5/6 students. The Leadership Summit was a huge success. We are very much looking forward to the Sydney School Spectacular. Keep an eye out on Facebook for photos and updates. SPECIAL YEAR 5 & 6 NEWS - YEAR 6 FAREWELL DRESS CODE : Boys are expected to wear trousers, a button-up shirt, tie and correct footwear (not sports shoes or thongs!). Girls should have clothing that covers their shoulders and is of an adequate length. Strapless/spaghetti strap tops and short skirts are strongly discouraged. If you are unsure about your child’s clothing, you are welcomed to send it in for Mrs Eddie, Miss Marzie or Mrs Halls to double check for you. YEAR 6 SHIRTS 2019 All Year 5 students have received a note regarding the purchase of Year 6 school shirts for 2019. Some shirt sizes are available at the office to try on to get the correct size you need. Please return the order and total payments to the front office before 8th December 2018. If you require another note or have any questions please see Ms Byrnes. SCHOOL MAGAZINE FRONT COVER COMPETITION Each year the school publishes a School Magazine which consists of a few reports and articles from every class, plus a lot of photos of the different activities and events that have been held throughout the year. As part of the magazine, students are being asked to create a design for the front cover. We are encouraging children to be as creative as possible. If children would like to make a collage, diorama, 3D model, mosaic or computer image; a photo can be taken of it if it is the winning design. It is also acceptable to enter a drawing if that’s what children would prefer. Drawings can only be produced on A4 size paper. Please ensure name and class are clearly marked on the back of these entries. NO NAME ON THE FRONT. Entries can be dropped off at the front office by Wednesday 28th November. WHITE RIBBON DAY White Ribbon, which is celebrated today, is Australia’s only national, male led campaign to end men’s violence against women. The vision is for all women to live in safety free from all forms of men's violence. This year Wentworth Public School have registered as a White Ribbon School. This means we are supporting and recognising the positive role that men play in preventing violence against women. This morning students were involved in some White Ribbon activities. Inflatable World Acknowledgement Excursion The whole school have been given the opportunity to participate in an Acknowledgment Excursion to be held at Inflatable World Mildura. The event will take place on Monday 10th December 2018. The cost of the excursion is $5. You will find a permission note regarding this event attached to this newsletter. Cath Eddie Principal

K/1 Hello Everyone, At our morning assembly on Monday, K/1 showed a video that they have been busy making to tell everyone how great WPS is and some of the fun activities that they get to do at school. This video will be shown to the Early Learning Group to help get them all excited to start school in 2019. Well done to all for their effort. We held a class vote to decide which animals we would like to learn about. We have been busy learning some interesting facts about cheetahs and using this in our writing. We have experimented with writing an acrostic poem and have completed some amazing cheetah artwork and craft. The next animal we will be looking at is the rabbit. Have a great week. Leanne Byrnes YEAR 1/2 For morning fitness we have been skipping to build up our gross motor skills. Students have been learning to be persistent by practising running in and skipping when a large rope is turned. On Wednesday morning we visited Vince in the Garden to complete math measuring activities. Yesterday, we visited the Year 4/5 class to help us create models for the 3D computers. Thank you to Miss Marzie and Year 4/5 for your support. Over the next two weeks we will be learning about home and farm safety. Keep smiling, Yvette Pomroy YEAR 3/4 We are on the final stretch for 2018! We would like to finish the year strong, so we are spending a lot of time talking about our school values and how we can ‘fill each other’s buckets’. We have also spent some time talking about road and passenger safety. Your child may come home and have a discussion with you about what it means to be a safe passenger in the car and what ‘distracted driving’ looks like. As part of our end of year celebrations, we will be doing a class Kris Kringle. Each student will be required to buy a gift for one other student in the class to the value of $10. More information will come out soon about the gift exchange, with a note going home at the beginning of December. YEAR 4/5 The class have made me very proud with their wonderful mannerism in my absences. This is great to hear, particularly nearing the end of the school year. During the week, four of our class members have been enjoying the sites of Sydney with Mrs Eddie, Mrs Halls and Nikki Bond (Michael’s mum). If you haven’t seen the photos yet, please visit our school Facebook. Year 5’s please refer to the Year 6 Dress Code in this newsletter to assist you for the special event. Please note our classes next and final Kitchen Garden session for the year will be on Thursday next week, the 29th November. Any assistance in the garden and/or kitchen will be greatly appreciated. Reminders: *Homework was due back yesterday, Thursday 22nd November. *Year 5’s Leadership Speeches – Friday 30th November @ 10am. *Fruit donations for daily Crunch & Sip. All the best for the remainder of the week, Sandra Marziano
