News from ELF Miniatures
We hope you are enjoying the holiday
season. Our reader’s house feature is the
shop in the photo, beautifully decorated
and lit here for Christmas – see the end of
the Newsletter for more. We were very
busy in the lead-up making sure Christmas
presents arrived on time! We are pleased
to announce that we will be attending the
Thame Dolls House and Miniatures Fair in
Oxfordshire for the first time in 2014. It’s on
Saturday 22nd February and we hope to see
some of you there.
We have some great bargains on offer at
the moment – many of them one-off ELF
items or end-of-line items, such as the high
quality china tableware from By Barb in the
USA. Please see below for more details.
New items from Elizabeth
To match the mug tree we featured last month, we’ve added an aluminium

We’ve also added some fridges to our range:
A large aluminium fridge with opening glass-fronted door, and fixed freezer
drawer. The interior is fitted with shelves, and two full-width pull-out crisper
drawers. Ready-made this costs £85.
And an addition to our fridge kits is this
under-counter steel fridge or freezer kit for
£6.50 for one or £12.00 for two, so that you
can make a matching fridge and freezer.

Featuring this month – a commercial kitchen!
ELF makes a unique range of appliances for a commercial kitchen:
double or single chiller, stove, sink unit and deep fat fryer. Add a
preparation table (made by Delph, available from ELF) and a chef!
We can also supply the meat cleaver and food that you can see on
the table.
We can supply additional items such as a cooker hood
and shelving (see photo right); these are not available to
order on the website as they are made to individual
requirements.
Some of these items would also suit a cafe setting – the
single chiller is a great way to display chilled food and
drink items. And no cafe can be without a commercial
espresso machine these days!
New items from the ELF Store
To help us think of warmer times, we have a surfboard and wicker-effect garden furniture set including a lounger.
The table and chairs set would also look great in a conservatory or cafe.
The stools are also available as a set of two, suitable for a kitchen breakfast bar or cafe setting. We’ve placed them with a cream and walnut ELF kitchen island.
As a contrast to the surfboard, we also have a snowboard!
Why not put these in a garage or loft or basement? Or a sports equipment shop – as well as golf bags, we have various pieces of gym equipment, including weights and an exercise bike.
This vanity unit has been available in a light wood finish for several years; we are pleased to offer a new version in white with a black top. It is excellent value at only £6.40.
And continuing with the white theme, we have a set of dining or kitchen chairs in white for £11.35. There are several tables that would go with them – an ELF acrylic table, the wooden rectangular one in the photo or a white acrylic minimalist dining table.
We have two new sets of books. One is a set of 3 novels for just 90p, from this selection.
The other is a set of books, a ring file and a pair of glasses, for just £2.50
.
Please ask if there is anything you would like that we don’t already stock. We can’t
guarantee to find it for you, but we’ll try!
Readers Houses This month we’re delighted to feature a project by Liz Davis.
Liz says: “I’ve always been fascinated with miniatures and dolls
houses since I was a little girl. Work and family life put paid to my
interest for many years, until one Christmas my in laws bought me
a dolls house. The best present and the best Christmas I’d had
since I was a child. That first house was donated to my daughter
and two more followed, one I sold on Ebay and the other went to a
friend as I lacked the time to continue with them.
Discovering an online community and the existence of many
wonderful suppliers of all things mini sparked my interest again.
I started with the purchase of a Sid Cooke kit last year and my
garden supplies shop with flat above began to take shape. The
outside was covered with brick slips and flint, in the style of the
buildings of East Anglia.
Inside I knew exactly what I wanted. Above the shop a modern flat for the owner to relax in at the end of
the day. Leaving the ceiling out to give me more height, I was able to incorporate a mezzanine sleeping area
above, supported by a driftwood tree, to fit in with the vaguely ‘seaside’ theme and the blue cloud wallpaper
on the walls.
Coming across Elf
Miniatures on the internet
was like stumbling into
mini modern heaven. The
room was to be planned
around the kitchen and
the one piece I wanted
most of all was a pull out
larder unit. After some
emails back and forth,
Elizabeth came up with
the definitive plan and my
wonderful kitchen came to
fruition.”
We like the droopy cat
on the sofa!
Close-up of the pull-out larder, open and closed. This is the
only opening cupboard in the kitchen, which Elizabeth built,
but could be supplied in kits for you to make yourself.
Close up of the area around the hob.
We love the detail in the shop, makes you want to go
in! From the piles of plant pots to the jumble of tools
to the watering cans!
