Dear Parents,
Music concert
This Thursday night from 6pm all the children will be showcasing the amazing work they have been accomplishing throughout the year. We look forward to a great concert so please join us for this whole school activity.
Bring a picnic blanket or chair. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available as well as scones and biscuits for parents at a minimal charge.
Show Day
Everyone had a fun morning when we went to the Murwillumbah Show last Friday. Children visited the various stalls with the reptile show always being the favourite and very informative. Our relay team ran well against some very strong opposition.
Lantern Making & River Festival
Today’s lantern making session went well with children creating a special piece for this year’s parade. Thank you to the parents who were able to assist. Lanterns will be available at the River Festival on Saturday, prior to the parade commencing. Come along and join in the fun with family and friends. Our school community also has the opportunity to carry some of the larger animal shaped lanterns during the parade. These are slightly bulky but not heavy. If you’d like to carry one of these in the parade please let me

You will need to sign in at the parade marquee from 4pm-7.15pm, to be ready to collect your lantern at the starting point (Tumbulgum PS) by 7.30pm. Staff will be operating a children’s activity workshop using natural materials sourced from around the Tweed River and operating a stall to sell Snow Cones from about 3pm. Please come along and support your school and com-munity at this event. Have a great week.

On Wednesday 23 November Dungay school will be
visited by all of Tumbulgum students for a morning
of ukulele workshopping and playing.
Students will be visiting from 9.15am until after
lunch. A special hot dog and popper lunch has been
organised which needs to be pre-ordered by Friday
18 November. An order form is attached if you
would like your child to have this lunch.

Speaker Night
The Society is pleased to present its second Speaker Night for 2016.
Our presenter will be Lui Weber Botanist/Ecologist BSc Hons UQ with the topic:
An aerial perspective of Tweed's geology, plants and animals
Experience unique video footage of our environment captured from Lui’s camera-equipped drones.
Lui Weber is a recognised expert in rainforest biogeography with 10 years professional consulting experience.
He has a lifetime interest in exploring the Tweed's forests, mountains and cliffs for rare plants and animals. He
is an acclaimed nature photographer with features in magazines such as Wildlife Australia and plant guides
including Plants of the Forest Floor and Mangroves to Mountains.
He has expertise in ecological restoration and native garden landscape design. His work includes peer reviewed
scientific publications in international journals as well as natural history books and guided walks.

5pm to 6pm: sausage sizzle and tea/coffee in the courtyard. 6pm to 7pm: talk by Lui Weber.

Tweed River Festival
Lantern Parade—Carrier Registration
Several large animal shaped lanterns form part of the lantern parade this
Saturday and depending on the lantern, between 6-8 people are required to
carry each. These lanterns are bulky but not heavy. People are encouraged to
form a group of friends to carry the lantern. It’s a lot of fun. Children under 12
are welcome to carry these but may require some assistance.
If you’d like to participate please complete the following and return to school by Wednesday morning. An
Information Sheet will be supplied so you know all the finer details. This information below will be given to the
organisers of the parade.
