12th Grader CANAAN COOPER, the future Pediatric Neurosurgeon, is Salutatorian in the 2019-2020

Doctor’s Hospital Bridge to The Future STEM Program

Doctor’s Hospital Bridge to the Future Stem Student Program is a free engagement with full health innovators. Each year 30 participants are selected, allowing them unprecedented access to Doctors Hospital as well as a chance to win monthly prizes and a paid summer internship at the hospital. The yearlong program sets out to increase students’ appreciation for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (Stem) subjects as they continue their journey toward a career in medicine or healthcare. The program is designed for high school students in grades 10 and 11. The students must have a keen interest in Stem and be excelling in one or more of those subjects. Canaan’s Participation: After being selected to join the program in early November, Canaan was declared the November

Challenge Winner after his submission of a one-minute video on “Goal Setting”, the very first challenge of the program. Every month students were given a challenge to complete in hopes of being the Challenge Winner. They were also awarded points. At the end of the program the top six (6) students in the program were recognized. On October 11th, 2020, a virtual award ceremony was held and Canaan received the title of Salutatorian for the 2019-2020 Bridge to the Future Stem Program. As Salutatorian, Canaan received a Bridge to the Future lab coat and certificate, a Doctors Hospital mask, a doctor’s pin, two trophies (November Challenge Winner and Salutatorian) and a cash prize for placing second overall.
