Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell. Packing some wet weather gear for going to and from school is a good idea as walking in the rain is good fun … if you are snug and dry on the inside. Semester Reports will be issued next week. As usual, please do not hesitate to contact the class teachers before the break if you have any queries about anything on the reports. I know most parents already have established a good relationship with their children’s teachers and there are some really effective partnerships between home and school that have been established. All the research shows that this benefits our students, not only with their progress and their attitude to school, but also in helping them to see the relevance of their school learning to their everyday lives.

I would like to thank my staff for another excellent term’s work in educating our students. We have also spent significant time adding to our own knowledge by learning new and more effective ways of teaching, both together as a staff as well as individually. Many have attended courses after school and in the holidays or been involved in work-shadowing at other schools. We have also been using the Department’s Teacher Connect to network and share with others as well as to access high quality educational resources. It is worth remembering that our motto, “Our Best Always” applies to all of us as well.

Finally, as this is the last newsletter for the term, please enjoy the break with your children and remember that the first Monday back is for staff only. Students return for Term 3 on Tuesday 19 July.

FROM THE DEPUTIES

Duty of Care As our duty of care to students is paramount, we are concerned at the number of parents who are coming onto the school campus during the course of the day, without first signing in at the Admin Office. This is a Departmental requirement and as such, staff are vigilant in challenging anyone to ensure the safety of all students. All visitors to the school who have not signed in will be directed to the Admin Office as a matter of course. We thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this important matter.

Road Usage around the School It has come to our attention that members of our school community are making inconsiderate choices when dropping students off in the morning, both in Osmaston Rd and also at the rear of the school in Dolomite Rd.

We understand that everyone’s first priority is to get their children to school on time, but we ask that you please be considerate also of other members of our school community and the safety of their children. We all need to work together to ensure our school community is strong and unified in motive and purpose for the sake of our children.

Please do not go near any of the play equipment until early next week - students will be advised at school. The area and equipment needs to settle so that the equipment can be used and enjoyed safely.

On Friday 10 June, we held the Carine Primary P&C Quiz Night. The overwhelming feedback I have received is that it was an awesome night and people cannot wait for the next one. I would like to thank all of those people who made the night possible. This includes the volunteers who worked tirelessly to pull it together; the sponsors - without them the night would not have been possible - and finally, the 220 people who attended and supported the night so well. Overall we raised $7,500 for the school, which is a pretty impressive effort. If you would like to see some photos, please visit the P&C Quiz Night Facebook events page.
