Institutional cooperation
Award of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of The
Bucharest University of Economic Studies to Acad.
Dr. hab. Grigore Belostecinic, PhD. rector of the
Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova
On November 9th 2016, ASE's Senate reunited in Aula
Magna for a festive gathering to confer the title of
Doctor Honoris Causa to Acad. Dr. hab. Grigore
Belostecinic, PhD. Rector of the Academy of Economic
Studies of Moldova. This high distinction was awarded
in recognition and appreciation of his scientific and
educational contributions to economic sciences as well
as for his endeavours to strengthening the bilateral
cooperation between our universities.
10th anniversary of Romanian-Russian academic cooperation between ASE and The Saint-Petersburg
State University of Economics (Russian Federation)
On November 17th 2016, The Bucharest University of
Economic Studies and The Saint-Petersburg State
University of Economics (UNECON) organized a
series of events dedicated to the 10th anniversary of
bilateral cooperation.
The UNECON delegation was leaded by the Rector,
Prof. Igor A. Maksimţev, PhD, Doctor Honoris Causa
of ASE and was made up of the vice-rectors for
International Relations and Administrative Affairs,
Prof. Dmitry Vasilenko and Prof. Sergei Mikadze and
the Director of the Department for International
Relations, Ms. Elena Tarasenko.
The collaboration is conducted on multiple levels, both for professors and researchers and students at all
educational levels as well. In order to strengthen and develop the cooperation, a strategic partnership
agreement between our universities was signed.
Institutional visits
The visit of H.E. Mr. Pande Lazarevski, PhD, the Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Hanif
Dauti, Counsellor and Consul, Prof. Jadranka Denkova from Goce Delchev University from Stip
(October 28th 2016), to explore the opportunities for cooperation with universities from Macedonia. A
second visit took place on December 16th 2016, when an Erasmus + bilateral agreement with the Goce
Delchev University from Stip for the mobility of students and professors was signed.
The visit H.E. Mr. José Arturo Trejo Nava, Ambassador of Mexico in Romania (November 3rd 2016),
accompanied by Mr. Borrego Martin Llorente, counsellor with cultural and economic affairs and two
Mexican students in order to identify areas of cooperation with educational institutions from Mexico.
The visit of a delegation from the University of Artois, France, led by Prof. Philippe Duez, the Dean of
the Faculty of Economics, Management and Social Sciences (November 4th 2016) to extend the
cooperation by initiating negotiations for double degree programmes in management and marketing.

The university’s international image
The Bucharest University of Economic Studies was present at three international educational fairs,
promoting the image of the university, the study programmes in foreign languages and the international
cooperation:
RIUF International Fair (Romanian International
University Fair), held in Bucharest, between 1st and 2nd
October 2016, with over 90 universities from Romania
and abroad. On this occasion, ASE's representatives
provided information about bachelor and master
programmes, about mobility for study at the partner
universities from abroad, and also the personal
development opportunities offered by our university.
The virtual education fair 'Study in Europe Virtual
Fair USA and Canada' on October 14th 2016 together
with other 65 universities from 19 European countries
which presented their educational offer, the admission
requirements, the programmes of international mobility
and the amenities offered within campus.
The QS World MBA Tour - Access MBA education
fair, on October 24th 2016 in Bucharest, promoting the
executive education programmes (MBA), both at the
ASE's booth and through the virtual platform QS
Outreach.

Affiliation to associations / international networks
In its efforts to strengthen the network of international partners, our university became member of the
following prestigious associations:
ICPA Forum - International Comparative Policy Analysis
Forum, a scientific association founded in 1998 at the initiative
Barruch College New York, which aims to promote excellence
in comparative public policy. Among the institutional members
there are prestigious universities from the United States and
from around the world. The association also collaborates with
11 international associations represented worldwide. The
Association publishes the Journal of Comparative Policy
Analysis (ISI Thomson Reuters SSI indexed, impact factor
0.642), organizes scientific conferences, academic mobility,
institutional advertising through the association's website and
magazine.
IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence,
an international association founded in 2009 to promote quality
and excellence in education and to develop comparative studies
on university international rankings.
Participation at events organized within the networks/professional associations
and various international institutions
Events at which our institution was presented between October-December 2016:
Participation at the annual NASPAA - Network of Schools of Public Policy, and
Administration Affairs, 18 to 22 October 2016, Columbus, Ohio - USA, hosted by the Ohio State
University. The event brought together representatives of prestigious schools of public
administration in the US, from New York, Chicago, Newark, Delaware, Kentucky, Michigan and
other universities to debate on the challenges and opportunities relating to training specialists in
public administration in the context of globalization. On this occasion, our university represented by
the Faculty of Administration and Public Management, has started the process of affiliation to
NASPAA;
Recognised European Valuer (REV) Recognition Committee Meeting, TEGoVA, October 21st
2016, Malahide (Ireland), by a representative of the Faculty of Finance, and Banking;
1st Meeting of the Balkan UNESCO Chairs, 7 to 9 November 2016, Drama and Kavala – Greece,
by a representative of the Faculty of Business Administration in foreign languages - UNESCO
Department for Business Administration;
EACVA's 10th Annual Business Valuation Conference, 24 – 25 November 2016, Berlin -

the Faculty of Accounting and Management Information Systems in the framework of the project
'Development of the internationalization of education and research in the field of accounting' financed
by the Fund for the financing of special situations, approved through the MENCS Order no 5014/2016.
International events
The anniversary of 25 years from the establishment of the Faculty of Business Administration in
foreign languages was marked by a series of events held from 21 to 25 November 2016. The anniversary
ceremony was attended by Prof. Nicolae Istudor, PhD, Rector of ASE, the ASE management team, H.E. Mr.
Hans Werner Lauk, the Ambassador of Germany to Bucharest, representatives of the Austrian Embassy,
Embassy of France, of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, the Romanian-American, Romanian-
French and Romanian-German Chambers of Commerce, of the French Institute, the German Service for
Academic Exchange, professors, students and graduates, business representatives.
Award of the 'European Language Label 2016' Diploma for innovative methods of language learning,
given to the OPORTUNIDANCE Project 'Dance your way to other cultures' (Erasmus + Strategic
Partnership, Project 2015-1-RO01-KA204-015155), managed by Assoc. Prof . Roxana Magdalena Bârlea
and Assoc. Prof. Roxana Marinescu, Department of Modern Languages and Business Communication
(November 2nd 2016).
Workshop 'Leadership in the Global Workplace', moderated by Ms. Mari Kano Klemm and Prof. Dorel

Intercultural activities and integration of the international students
Activities carried out by ESN ASE - Erasmus Students Network
The local branch of the Erasmus Students Network supports the internationalization of our university
through the integration of international students. The events organized during the first semester 2016/2017
are as follows:
Welcome Days (1 – 9 October 2016) – assistance on arrival,
accommodation and installation, information sessions and campus
orientation, city sightseeing, Romanian traditional dinner,
welcome party, excursion and picnic at Mogoşoaia;
Cultural evenings: Italian (October 12th 2016), French (October
18th 2016), Spanish (November 2nd 2016), German (November
11th 2016), Polish (November 16th 2016), Romanian (November
30th 2016);
Visits to the Palace of the Parliament, the Village Museum,
Antipa – Natural Science Museum;
Trips: Halloween in Transylvania (27–30 November 2016:
Brașov, Sinaia, Bran, Râșnov), Winter Trip (9 – 11 December
2016: Sibiu, Hunedoara, Alba Iulia, Sighișoara);
Social and charity activities: Social Erasmus Week (6 to 12
November 2016): cleaning of the public space, donating food and
providing hot meals for people from disadvantaged backgrounds,
debates on discrimination, differences and cultural stereotypes
and on social inclusion, teaching English to school children, anti-
smoking campaign; volunteering at the Centre for therapy dogs
for children with autism and other disabilities (December 5th
2016);
Themed parties and weekly group activities.
Winter Warmer Party –December 6th 2016
Socialization evening for international students, organized by the
Department for International Relations, in order to get to know
themselves better, interact with peers and professors, familiarize
themselves with Romanian cuisine and customs.
Intercultural Evening organized by the Faculty of Business
Administration in foreign languages, 3rd edition
December 14th 2016
The students and professors from FABIZ meet annually in an informal
setting to learn more about their home country, culture and traditions.
This year gave us the opportunity to learn more about and to taste
delicious food prepared by students from Austria, Azerbaijan, France,
Germany, Lebanon, Romania, Pakistan, Syria and the USA.

Promoting international mobility for ASE students
During October - December 2016, 23 presentations of mobility
opportunities for studies and placements within the Erasmus+
Programme have been organized by the representatives of the
Department for International Relations, with the support of the deans
from all faculties with particular focus on 1st year students.
The promotion campaign will continue during January and February
2017 with the support of ESN ASE - Erasmus Students Network
through online campaigns and distributing informational materials in
students' halls and in all faculties and through a series of presentation
sessions of the mobility opportunities.
The offer for mobility studies for the academic year 2017/2018 will be
published on February 1st 2017, the application period is February
13th – March 1st 2017.
For mobility placement there is an ongoing selection, the applications
for financing shall be submitted at least one month before the start of
mobility.
Our students, our ambassadors
The national platform for ESN - Erasmus Students Network (15 to 18 December 2016), organized by
the local ESN branch and hosted by ASE, brought together over 120 participants from major Romanian
universities and ESN delegates from Italy, Poland and Spain, representing an opportunity to promote the
image of our university nationwide and internationally.
Two ASE students - finalists in the LSRS competition for Academic Excellence Awards, organized by
the League of the Romanian Students Abroad. Diana Vlăjie, student of the Faculty of Administration and
Public Management, and Denisa Georgiana Ștefan, graduate of the Faculty of Marketing, are nominated in
the Erasmus section for exceptional academic course and for how they chose to share their mobility
experience.
