    HEADTEACHERS MESSAGE

Where has this half term gone? It has simply flown by and I am thoroughly enjoying being the Headteacher at

Parnwell. A huge thank you to all those parents who attended our Parents Consultations last week and gave

me an insight into what you think we can improve here at school. Your support really is appreciated.

Have an enjoyable and safe half term and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 3rd November.

LITERACY WORK FROM THE LIONS CLASS

The children in Lions class have been working on descriptive story openers based on a picture. They had to pay

special attention to using conjunctions, using varied sentence openers, and describing using similes and

    adjectives.

We have two fantastic pieces of work to share with you:

A big, magical castle stands all alone in the forest surrounded by blue, fresh water. Sea monsters peak out looking for knights to eat for dinner.Trees dip inside the cold sea and the wind howls like wolves in the

middle of the night. Its still sunny outside but freezing inside. While thewind howls through the broken windows knights fight inside the creepycastle to save the princess. You can hear screams at the top of thecastle as if someone were slowly losing their life. White clouds fly upabove like white snow drifting in the sky. Mist rises up from the moathiding the castle like a thick blanket. Who is inside and will they everescape? Wiktoria Z

Sun shines on the enchanted forest which has trees as tall as a

mountains. It is surrounded by water where people often drown because

it is as deep as the ocean. A volcano is erupting nearby and dragons fly

    above. Joshua A

Wow - wish we had the rest of the stories to read!!! Well done to all the children in the class!

    Rhinos - Jude and Nathanael

Lions - Danielle, Salis, Shane and Wiktoria

Giraffes - Dorothy, Michal and Abi

Crocodiles - Brooke, Maggie, Nikola, Madison and Alwin

    Tigers - Portia and Ben

    SICKNESS AND ABSENCE

At this time of the year there are many different germs and bugs floating around, and many children are

complaining of feeling sick. Unless your child has sickness or diarrhoea, or is really ill with a cold or the flu (or

chicken pox, impetigo etc.), please let them come into school. Very often children feel better later on in the

morning after being with their friends in class. If your child has been prescribed antibiotics four times a day we

are able to administer it with your permission - please see the ladies in the school office.

    POPPY APPEAL

After half term poppies will be available in school

for the children to make a donation to The Royal

British Legion Poppy Appeal. Please help support

this worthy cause - last year we raised 59.55!

    LADYBIRDS AND BUTTERFLIES

P.E. kit will be needed in school when we come

back from half term. Please could you ensure that

children come to school with full indoor P.E. kit.

Indoor kit consists of t shirt and shorts.

    SENSORY CIRCUITS

Sensory circuits have been a huge success this term, and the children love coming in to take part in morning

exercise to set them up for the day. We look forward to welcoming some new children

    after half term.

    HARVEST FESTIVAL THANK YOU!

We would just like to say thank you for the fantastic response we got for our collection for

    the Harvest Festival.

All of the items were donated to the Peterborough Food Bank, which helped to feed over

5000 people in Peterborough last year. Reverend Michael joined us for the assembly,

which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

CHANGE OF TERM DATES - REMINDER

In order to incorporate staff training days we have had to change the end of the Autumn Term and the beginning

of the Spring Term. School will now close at 3.15pm on Thursday 18th December and reopen on Monday 5th

January 2015. Please make a note of this - we will be constantly sending reminders up until the

    end of term.

If you would like to communicate with school by post, please always include a name and address so that we can

respond to you! We have recently had a few letters which did not include a name or address and therefore we

    cannot provide a response.
