Stakeholders and Clients.

I'm honored and touched by this appointment and I

announcement was made. I'm especially honored to take on this challenge

after the tenure of my predecessor, Mohammad Al-Marry.

This is NITI’s 4th edition of its newsletter. NITI has continued to evolve

throughout its nearly short 3-year history. From its small beginning in

Abqaiq to a large Campus in Al-Hasa, NITI culture continues to change lives

of young aspiring Saudis who are the future of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

You will find many updates on our training improvements, faculty, trainees,

and staff in this issue. The goal of the institute is to be a world-class

industrial training provider in Saudi Arabia and we are progressing swiftly

towards attaining our mission.

Dear fellow Saudis, let me assure you that NITI is committed to you and to

your lifelong success. As I have yet to meet everyone, I want to make myself

available to the association at large.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and NITI Management, I openly invite

the representatives from our partners, stakeholders, clients to visit our

campus, discuss with us their requirements and to have a feeling of the

actual training provided.

We will strive to be responsive and best serve and develop NITI as a center

of quality and excellence where NITI young Saudi graduates will contribute

to the Kingdom’s vision of 2030. NITI cares to develop them into quality

graduates, with full round characters that are skilled in their specialties,

proficient in English, adept in computers and armed with safety awareness,

discipline and the desired work ethics. This is NITI's main interpretation of

its customer focus.

Finally, I want you to know that I am honored to take on this new role and

I look forward to personally connecting with you – staff, instructors, clients

and stakeholders. Please feel free to reach out to me directly and I invite you

to stay in touch. Your comments, feedback, and ideas are always welcome.

SAFETY :: GCC Traffic Week ... Your Life is a Trust

“ Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance ”

- Will Durant

Your Life is a Trust … On the road you are entrusted with your own

safety, your passenger's safety, and the safety of those around you. The

33rd Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Traffic Week was a reminder of this

responsibility.

Speeding, texting while driving, and disregarding traffic rules and

regulations continue to place lives in danger.

NITI participated in the 2017 GCC Traffic Week organized from March 12

to 16, 2017. NITI trainees and staff actively participated in the event held

at Al-Ahsa Mall, and also donated (3) driving simulators for the event.

The event was well-received and attended daily by a number of NITI

trainees who took part in the event in batches and some of the trainees

from the Safety Ambassador Club demonstrated the use of driving

stimulators. NITI employees, dependents, and contractors attend the event and took part in various activities

and demonstrations of safety equipment.

Inline with the Kingdom at large and NITI in particular, traffic safety is not only about education; it is about the

trust we place in each other to improve safety on our roads. This is a reflection of the respect we have for the

lives of our families and fellow citizens across the country. Your nation is calling on you to play your part in

improving road safety.

We are a result of the choices we make, and we are accountable for those choices. Make these count by being

safe on the road. Your Life Matters … Don’t call until you arrive.

Auto accidents are not usually attributable to a car’s condition. In fact, cars are in better shape in Saudi Arabia

than in many countries. Unfortunately, Saudi Arabian’s accident rates are among the highest. According to traffic

officials, speed, running red lights, and talking or texting on mobiles are the three main causes of traffic

accidents. It only takes a few seconds to think before you perform an act of negligence that will either put you

in an early grave or give you permanent injuries. So take care!!!

To encourage safety practices, NITI conducts weekly meetings of Safety Ambassador Club and has dedicated

the last period of every Thursdays to convey a safety message. A trainee is selected to deliver a safety talk to NITI

Management during their weekly communication meeting.

Monthly Safety newsletter has been launched and also a

monthly online safety quiz is conducted and winners

awarded.

As seen in the photo, posing with NITI Management are

to Safety on January 22, 2017.

T

SAFETY :: Kill Your Speed ... Quit Smoking !!!

“ Much education today is ineffective. All too often we are giving young people cut flowers

when we should be teaching them to grow their own plants.” - John W. Gardner

Arab News dated, April 4, 2017 stated “According to a recent study conducted by King Abdul Aziz

University, traffic accidents caused 7,500 deaths, 68,000 injuries, and left 2,000 people

handicapped with permanent disabilities. Additionally, the annual loss caused by car accidents is

estimated to be SR18 billion. Unfortunately, most traffic accident victims are youths, and a firm stance

is therefore required from everyone in society, including insurance companies,” Al-Eisa added.

REMEMBER!!!

Spare parts for humans are not as

original as those for cars

Readers we at NITI, request you to seriously think

about certain consequences, especially if you are under

the influence or addiction of anything.

You used to use the mobile and drive, you used to text

and drive, you used to speed and drive… and now you

cannot do things you did before the accident,

whether it was you driving or someone else driving.

You can replace car parts, but there is nothing you

can do to replace body parts or even someone’s life.

What if this happened to someone in your family

because of someone else’s carelessness.

Someone has lost an uncle to a driver who was texting

and driving. Someone ran him off the road on a bridge

and he died instantly. He left behind a five-year old

daughter who was never able to see her dad again!!!

THINK before you ACT!!!

QUALITY :: TUV Trainer Certification & Recognition

“ Nine tenths of education is encouragement ”

- Anatole France

On March 15, the final group of TUV-Trainers were certified from TUV “Certified Vocational

Trainers”. The certificates were distributed by Dr. Frank Wenghoefer, Principal Director at NITI.

Since the certification began, 54 TUV Trainers went through a comprehensive standardized

3-phase certification process as prescribed in the regulations of TUV Rheinland, Germany.

The “Phase 1” was the participation in a seminar being conducted by German Trainers. The

1st session was conducted in March 2016, the 2nd in September 2016. These seminars were

finalized with a formal written test. During the following weeks, “Phase 2” the trainers

elaborated a document set based on German standards to conduct a selected practical

training sequence under the prescribed concept. The quality and comprehensiveness of the

documentation have been assessed and recorded.

The “Phase 3” delivered the evidence and results of the application of the document set done

by life training sessions, performing a scenario approach or by in-depth presentation with

oral questioning.

SAFETY :: Hygiene Week at NITI

February 5 to 9, 2017 was

observed as NITI Hygiene Week.

An interactive meeting was

arranged between the Trainees,

Staff and Janitorial Contractor

employees. Around 118 workers were honored as environment

pioneers as a token of awareness.

The main objective of the Hygiene week was to raise the profile of

sanitation and encourage NITI community to prioritize sanitation,

health and hygiene and further to increase awareness of the

importance of sanitation to ones’ daily lifestyle, health and dignity.

Also to promote the continued identification, documentation and

replication of sanitation best practices.

Social Media is a big world. There are positive and negative aspects. Let’s start with the negative…

There are a lot of people who post bad things whether it is an letter, photo or even a video. These things are

often not suitable for young people. Social Media can also not be good in this way either.

On the other hand, the good thing about Social Media is that you can make

contact with people in just one second. However, if you have a bad internet

connection you will suffer when trying to Post or Send anything.

Social Media brings people together. In my opinion there are more good

things than bad about modern social media.

NITI TRAINEES :: Recreational Activities

“ I hear, and I forget. I see, and I remember. I do, and I understand ”

- Chinese proverb

NITI Trainees flock to the Library by Ghaleb Qaisi

NITI kicks off Extra Curricular Activities Recreation is about activities and experiences which produce feelings of enjoyment and

satisfaction. They give the trainees opportunities to express creativity, achieve and

master new skills. It provides the basis for increased self-confidence for a Trainee.

Participation in recreation and leisure activities allows trainees with autism to learn

skills specific to a particular sport or activity. Progress in seen not just in the specific

programs, but in other areas of life as well.

As directed by NITI Executive Director, NITI formed the RECREATIONAL & SOCIAL

ACTIVITIES TEAM (RSAT) chaired by Mukhtar Haleeb, to engage Trainees and ensure

their active participation in sports and social activities after hours. Following are the

highlights of RSAT:

Various sports events were planned. As for football, 12 coaches were identified

in-house and the 1st football activity kicked-off on January 19, 2017.

Games and social activities planned for staff are Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton

Trainee Club Activities include; Sport Games Football/Volleyball/Basketball/

Handball/Tennis/Table Tennis/Billiards; Olympic Games: Track Races/Jumps;

Throws: Javelin/Shot/Discus; Cultural Activities as: Fine Arts/Photography/Music;

Chess/Backgammon; Agriculture & Nursery/National Singing/Ardha Team/Etc.

NITI has identified that recreation and social activities are important in promoting

inclusion and quality of Trainee’s life. Enables all with autism to become involved and

feel like a part of their NITI community. Provides the opportunity to gain and develop

new friends. Sports and exercise programs can improve physical and mental health.

It increases Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence and reduces reliance on parents and

other adults. Increases independence which leads to increased opportunities. The

actual objective served by the after hours activities is the safety of the trainees.

No one can undermine the importance of a library at an institute like NITI, and the impact it will have on the

trainees’ learning and development and that’s why NITI library became a reality, a modest one though.

The library is equipped with a number of titles and reference books on a variety of subjects. It

also has ten (10) computer workstations connected to the internet with access to online

resources. Additional resources are being added constantly to enrich the learning resources

for NITI trainees. Trainees with their teachers keeps flocking to the library and explores its

contents that will help them in their learning.

The library is intended to cultivate the learners’

research skills leading to the development of

independent life-long learners. It empowers the

learners and widens their imagination by maximizing the learning

opportunities. Trainees learn to find and use information from a wide

variety of resources while pursuing independent work that supports &

extends their prescribed curriculum. Trainees’ positive statements and

enthusiasm are testimony to the value the library has created.
