Students Cast Their Ballots For Books!

For the past eleven weeks, the kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders have been reading books from the Texas Mockingbird list during library time. As a culminating activity, the students voted for their favorite book in a special library voting booth and even sampled some ugly pie, a recipe from one of the books.

The high school geology classes have recently been studying groundwater, a vital resource to all life on earth. They have mapped the flow of groundwater and determined the hydraulic gradient. They have been able to pinpoint sources of contamination in simulated activities and also determined whether or not certain reservoirs and wells are at risk from contamination. In the photo at right, a student is shown testing different sediment types for their effect on aquifer flow. The height of the recharge zone above the well was varied to note the effect height had on artesian flow.

The class will next begin reading A Biblical Case For An Old Earth by physicist David Snoke. The book explores the implications of geology and other sciences which fully support the Biblical account of creation.
