Scholarships for the best students FAKOM stays always on young engineers side

According to the Framework Agreement for technical and scientific cooperation within devel-

opment and improvement of the steel structures, signed between FAKOM AD – Skopje and the Fac-

ulty of Civil i.e. Mechanical Engineering at UKIM –Skopje in order to motivate the education within

production and design engineering, FAKOM AD – Skopje, the leading company for production and

erection of steel structures and equipment in Southeastern Europe awards two scholarships to students

at the Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering Faculty for the academic year 2011/2012.

This results from the long-standing cooperation between the company and both faculties in the

field of student exchange and also in terms of technical and educational advancement of the engineer-

ing staff working at FAKOM, AD – Skopje.

This scholarship offering, tending to become traditional, once again confirms that FAKOM is

a company that constantly invests in its efficiency and at the same time it supports education and pro-

fessional training of Macedonian future engineers.

FAKOM purchased modern and sophisticated equipment and software

from the latest generation of modern metrology: Laser Absolute Tracker Leica

AT401, Laser total station Leica TDRA 6000 and dedicated software Poly-

Works for inspection and modeling.

The equipment is fully portable and with support of the software it pro-

vides a simple way of interactive, real-time and accurate millimeter measuring

of 3D (x, y, z) spatial data of existing structures, structures under construction or

parts thereof (structures, assemblies, elements, points) during separate stages of

production and installation, to perform modeling, inspection, comparison of the

manufactured /installed model with the projected 3D model, to perform virtual

simulation of a trial installation or measured data of the already built structures

to be used for the project ¬ forming of the reconstructions, repairs and rehabili-

tation, specifically for reverse engineering / design.

This equipment and software is unique in the wider region and the ser-

vices for 3D measurement, inspection, modeling, virtual simulation of a trial

installation are available for external users too.

FAKOM awards for the best graduation thesis at the Faculties of Civil and Mechanical Engineering

for 2010/2011

On October 6th 2011, the day of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Skopje, at a celebration

in the presence of eminent guests, Aleksandra Cvetanovska was awarded the prize “FAKOM” for gradua-

tion thesis in the field of steel structures for 2010/2011 entitled :”Hanging Roof Structure – Overhang”.

The same award was given on June 17th, the day of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to Mar-

tin Petreski for graduation thesis entitled: “MIG-MAG welding of structural steel parts’’. Martin now

works at FAKOM.

The "FAKOM" awards, consisting of a plaque-certificate and a monetary award to the amount of

the average net salary of FAKOM was handed by M.Sc. Zlatko Simonovski, General Manager of FA-

Visit to Germany

From October 10th to October 12th 2011, expert team of FAKOM has

visited Kjelberg Finsterwalde Company in Germany. The company manu-

facturing electrodes and possess its own plants for manufacturing steel prod-

ucts, windmills, hard welded metal sheets and other different products. Kjel-

berg cooperate with plenty of well-known manufacturers for CNC cutting

machines equipment, ESAB, MESSER, MICROSTEP and others.

Kjelberg offers sufficient technological solutions for many companies with

similar activities including FAKOM, which will use it within its technical

upgrade.

FAKOM was part of a winning team that worked on the reconstruction of the Arena Filip II

Our country has finally gotten a valuable sport arena. Thanks to the complete reconstruction

and renovation of the south stand and the construction of the new north, east and west stand, per-

formed under the strictest standards of FIFA, the arena got a new and modern look.

The facility which was officially handed over on April 24th 2011, FAKOM manufactured and

erected about 1,700 tons of steel structure and by 12,000 m2 roof covering, profiled sheet metal and

steel structure carrying two displays, the largest in this part of Europe.

For the new production plant for processing of meat and meat products of Pekabesko AD - Skopje,

FAKOM manufactured and erected 850 tons of steel structure and mounted about 21,000 m2 and cladding

roof panels.

FAKOM participate in the construction of production halls, manufacture of cranes and other equip-

ment for facilities of IGM Trade Kavadarci, in cooperation with the German manufacturing giant mining

equipment producer, TyssenKrupp Fördertechnik, FAKOM worked this year on assembling the 10 mile

conveyor belt with five feeding stations in open cast Brod Gneotino in REK Bitola, a project of the Public

Power company of Macedonia (ELEM).

FAKOM is also active outside the territory of our country. For the croation company Montmon-

tazha from Zagreb, FAKOM produced this year about 7,000 tons of steel structure for tanks for Janaf pipe-

line - Sisak. During the 2011 FAKOM has various smaller projects, demonstrating once again that not by

coincidence for five decades is a crucial segment in the metal industry in Europe and worldwide.

Already becoming a tradition FAKOM to present their achievements in regional scientific and

professional conferences. This year the engineering team of FAKOM took part in GED-2011 conference

(Skopje fair, May 2011) with the work “Introduction of BIM / FIM concept in FAKOM”. On the 13th In-

ternational Symposium of the Society of Structural Engineers of Macedonia (Struga, September 2011), in-

troduce oneself with the works: “Project for the steel structure of geodesic dome of the Macedonian Parlia-

ment, the use of BIM / FIM and the laser metrology in FAKOM and assemblable car parks. The works

geodesic dome assemblable car parks are also published in Porta 3 journal. (www.porta3.com.mk )

FAKOM participated in the 3rd Euro – Asian Forum for construction EACEF- 2011 (Indonesia,

September 2011) with the work “National Sport Arena in Skopje, Macedonia. An Application of Cost

Effective Detailing Concept”.

The round table discussion, “Haw to get a better Construction Law” organized by the Engineering

Chamber of Macedonia and MASE (Macedonian Association of Structural Engineers) (September 2011),

where FAKOM participated with opening statement. The opening statement was also published in the

Porta3 journal.
