Day

Dear Parents/Carers,

Some of you may have heard that Truro Nursery School is now

leading and managing the Truro and Roseland Children Centres. We

are delighted to be able to support a wider network of families and it

is our hope that we can use feedback from parents to shape the

provision that the Children Centres offer. We will have some

registration cards at reception over the next few weeks. If you

haven’t already registered with a Children’s Centre, please fill in a

card. It only takes a few minutes and then you will be able to access

the services and information as things change. Thank you

Mrs Helen Sills, Headteacher

Whiteboard

We have recently begun using a whiteboard

on the patio at the end of a session to tell you

a little about what we have been doing. We are

unable to feedback to every parent every day

of course but we hope that this will be a starting

point for some conversation about what your

child may have experienced during the session.

We have tried to include things that the children

have said themselves about what they have been

doing during the sessions. Please let us know if

there is anything else you would like to see on

this board.

Website

We have now started putting a weekly update on the parents

section of the website. It includes details of what the children

were up to the previous week and photographs of their

adventures. We hope you are enjoying this information and would

be very grateful for any feedback concerning this. If you have not

managed to navigate your way onto the secure parent’s area yet, or

need a password reminder, please speak to Mrs Jacobs or Mrs

Jago.

Come and Join us

This half term until Christmas we would

like to invite parents to drop in to join

us with some singing and/or a story –

come and join your child for the last

part of the session. You can drop in (no

need to book) on a Monday at 11.15am

or 15.10pm. Just come along to the

reception area. Don’t worry if your child

does not attend on a Monday – we will

be changing the day as the year goes

on! I am sure the children would love to

share this special time with you.

Shape Walks

Many thanks to all the parents and grandparents for coming on the

shape walks with us last week. Events like these cannot take place

without parent helpers and we are exceedingly grateful.

Book bags

Could we please ask that when your child arrives in Nursery at the

beginning of the sessions, they bring their book bags in with them

and not put them on their pegs. Thank you.

Nursery session times

Please ensure that your child arrives for the start of their session

on time and that they are collected promptly. If you know you are

going to be late collecting your child, we offer a wraparound for 15

minutes at the end of the day and before the session starts in the

morning for the small charge of 50p. Please speak to Mrs Jacobs

or Mrs Jago and they can reserve this for you. Session times are

listed below:

Morning session 8.45am – 11.45am

Lunchtime session 11.45 – 12.30pm

Afternoon session 12.30pm – 3.30pm

Christmas cards

Each year we ask parents kindly of they would refrain from

sending in cards for other children in the class. It can take a very

long time to sort through so many cards to give out to individuals

and we question the value of this for such young children. Instead

we ask that you bring in one card which is addressed to everyone

in the nursery – perhaps you might like to spend some time

encouraging your child to decorate the card or write their name in

it. We will then display these in the reception area. We are then

also doing a bit to save the planet! Thank you.

Christmas Holiday Club

Continuing on from the great success of our Summer holiday club,

we hope to be able to offer Christmas Holiday Club. The days we

are considering opening are Monday 23rd and Monday 30th

December. This will be run by our own highly qualified and

experienced staff and will cater for children aged 3-8 years. A

range of activities will be diverse and suited to age and will

include crafts and music with a Christmas/Winter theme. You

could just book your children in for a morning or afternoon if you

wanted to do some last minute shopping or wrapping at your

leisure. If you would like to book in for a session or more, please

speak to Mrs Jacobs or Mrs Jago. Costs start from as little as

£15.00.

Christmas Parties

Each year we organise a Christmas Party for all

the children. This year our Christmas Party Day

is our last day of term, Friday 20th

December.

We will split the children into two groups and will

be mindful of trying to keep friends together.

You will by now have received a letter telling you

which party your child has been invited too. Please

return the permission slips to us as soon as possible.

Please note that there are no normal sessions on this

day or wraparound sessions; it is purely a party day.

You will not be charged for any sessions on this day

either.

Skype

In line with our Comenius Project, the children today have had a

“Skype” conversation with children at a nursery in Sweden. The

children all really enjoyed being able to talk with their friends and

Father Christmas had even made a special visit to the Swedish

Nursery today too!
