Construction works of the Reloading Station in the Port of Klaipeda have been initiated in autumn 2016, according to the schedule. The pictures below present launching the works on the construction field.

LNG Reloading Station is a small-scale LNG terminal which is being developed in the territory of SC Klaipe-dos Nafta. LNG Reloading Station will consist of 5 storage tanks (1.000 m3 each) with possibility to expand the station to 10 tanks in future. Maxima annual reloading capacities – 250.000 m3. The station will have two bays for truck loading and one 250 meters long jetty for ships. LNG will be brought by small-scale vessels(5.000-20.000 m3) to the Reloading Station from FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) Independence and from the third parties. AB Klaipedos Nafta will provide shuttle services from FSRU to the Reloading Station.

Having successfully completed the HEKLA campaign in the Eastern Baltic, in 2016, visiting Sopot, Riga and Vilnius, the new events are being planned, which are expected to be held in spring 2017.

The second turn of the campaign will involve similarly to 2016 events, stakeholders related to transport and energy sectors however it also aims to take advantage of the region’s specificity and involve transfer of experience from the existing LNG bunkering facilities. Meetings with local stakeholders will be held in the selected ports in Sweden, Denmark and Germany. More detailed information on the prepared events will be published soon at the HEKLA project website: www.heklalng.com/news.

Statoil, LITGAS, and Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (LDT) have signed an agreement for providing wholesale LNG supplies from Klaipeda’s LNG terminal.

The contract assumes, the parties will use the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit Independence as an LNG supply centre for bun-kering and re-loading.The carrier Coral Energy (15.6 thou. m3 capacity) visited the terminal at the beginning of January, and was loaded with the volume of 15 thou. m3 of LNG (first gas shipment by Coral Energy to Skangas’ LNG terminal in the Port of Pori, was conducted in July 2016).

“We are very glad that we have strengthened our strategic partnership with Statoil. It is a major step for Lietuvos Energija, Klaipeda’s LNG ter-minal, and for our country. We are entering into emerging Baltic small-scale LNG market, and the cooperation agreement not only allows to develop a successful business, but creates a potential for Klaipeda’s LNG terminal to become a regional small-scale LNG supply centre as well. Important to note that this new activity would increase the usage of the terminal which, in turn, allows to lower its operational costs,” Dalius Misiunas, Chairman and CEO of Lietuvos Energija (mother company of LITGAS and LDT), said on the occasion.Vytautas Cekanavicius, LITGAS’ CEO, added, “Statoil and LITGAS have established an LNG value chain for supplies to the Klaipeda ter-minal, and such cooperation is unique in the region. LITGAS is active at the Klaipeda’s LNG terminal, and has experience of working with the national gas grid operator and LDT. By exploiting these advantages, we can provide services required to ensure reliable and flexible LNG supplies.”

“As the leading natural gas supplier in Lithuania, supplying gas to over 560 thousand residential and commercial clients, we can cater for flex-ibility needs and consequently improve LNG offerings at the terminal,” Mantas Mikalajunas, LDT’s General Manager, concluded.
