Newsletter 31- 2019 Thursday 10th October
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope everyone had a
relaxing break and that we are all ready for what
is always a very busy term! I am sure that all those
Richmond supporters had an enjoyable break
with a great premiership win. To everyone else -
there is always next season!!
On the last day of Term 3 we had our annual
Footy Colours Day to raise money for the Fight
Cancer Foundation. Everyone came along in their
team colours which were great to see. We had all
three codes represented – AFL, Rugby and
Soccer. We raised $242.15 for the Fight Cancer
Foundation.
This event was well planned by Margaret, Elle and the
Glenroy Central Junior School Council and I thank them for
all their hard work. Everyone had a great day of fun activities.
Thank you
to the great helpers as well
provided by the AFL.
This term we welcome Lucy as our Crossing
Supervisor while Rita is having a break. Make her feel
welcome to our school community by saying hello!
Please remember if you are crossing over Logan St
that you need to use the school crossing. As adults
we need to be good role models for our children.
Although it may take a little longer to walk to the
crossing it is so much safer and we do not want
anyone to be injured.
Also, please remember that there are a number of no
parking zones at the front of the school so make sure
you park in the correct places.
Thanks for your cooperation and for helping to protect
the children in our school community.
Remember: Summer uniforms will be required for this
term (the first few weeks until the end of October are
optional if the weather is a bit cool) – please ensure that
your child’s summer uniform is ready to go and that all
items are marked with names–
HATS ARE ESSENTIAL!
Congratulations also to those students who had 100% attendance for Term 3. You will find their names listed at the end of this newsletter.
It’s that time of the year again when the Year 6 students are raising money for their graduation ceremony and dinner. The students will be selling icy-poles on Fridays and days over 25 degrees for $1.00 to raise money for their graduation ceremony. This begins next week! Last year they raised enough money to cover all costs which was a fantastic effort. The Year 6 students look forward to seeing you all at the canteen – but don’t forget NO HAT NO ICYPOLE!
We also welcome our new Kindergarten Teacher Michelle Ives. We are very happy to have her join the Glenroy Central Team.
Remember - Every Day Counts! Have a great weekend!

KINDER NEWS Hello everyone. I would like to introduce myself as the new Kindergarten Teacher for Glenroy
Central Kindergarten. My name is Michelle and I began teaching in the last week of Term 3.
Last term the kindergarten children were talking a lot about the
growing garden and its plants. There was much interest in what had
grown and some of the vegetables were ready for harvest. At home
Michelle had been collecting the Woolworths discovery garden seeds.
So she brought them in to show the children. But first we learnt about
what seeds need to grow by reading a book and then we watched the
Woolworths discovery channel to learn how to pot these seeds.
Outside the children helped Michelle
with some gardening. Wearing their
gardening gloves they helped
Michelle put the Woolworths
discovery seeds in their pots. But there was a process. In pairs we
worked together to water and release the compacted soil pallets, before
putting it in its seeding tray and adding the seeds. We will be continuing
to water them each day and wait for them to grow. Through this
experience we are developing a growing appreciation for other living
things, and will learn the lifecycle of a
seed.
