The International Crankshaft expansion on Carley Drive has begun.
From the Director The Planning Commission is looking forward to an active and exciting year. At the top of the agenda is the start of the five-year Comprehensive Plan review. In 2011, the last review period, the Goals and Objectives of the 2006 plan were amended, but no other updates oc-curred. It is anticipated, with all the changes that have occurred since 2006, that we will undertake a full document update. The official kick-off will be sometime mid-year, with a target completion date of Fall 2016. The City of Stamping Ground would like assistance in developing a small area study or possibly an update to their Comprehensive Plan. The City of Sadieville also plans an update this year. Both documents once complete would be incorpo-rated into the Georgetown-Scott County Plan. The Planning Commission will begin this Winter compiling background information and studies to be utilized in the update. Additionally, we plan to hold a number of focus group meetings to identify areas where additional research or outreach needs to occur. The Growth vs. No Growth vs. Managed Growth debate should occur as part of this process and the com-munity consensus should be legitimized in the Goals and Objectives and policies of the plan. Broad and active partici-pation in this process is vital to creating a valid and suc-cessful plan. We are eager to begin this work in the months ahead!

The GIS office is currently revising Georgetown Ordinance 2003-24 regarding digital submittals for subdivision plats and development plans. The ordinance has not been amended since its approval in 2003. The most significant change will be requiring more data to be included in the submittal. Most of the additional data will be stormwater related, which will aid the City Engineer in inventorying and maintaining stormwater structures.
