Year 9 NAPLAN Numeracy
Congratulations to our Year 9 students.
73.5% of students achieved greater than
expected growth in Numeracy. Students at
Cobar High achieved an Average Scaled
Score Growth of 53.9 which is 3.8 greater
than the Average Scaled Score Growth for
all students in NSW and 5.1 Average Scaled
Score Growth greater than NSW DEC
students. This is a wonderful result.
Notification of Non-Attendance
It is important that all students attend school
on time everyday to maximise their learning
experiences. We now have the capability to
email parents when their students are not at
school. From the beginning of next term we
will be emailing parents for whom we have
email addresses when their students are not
at school. If there is a legitimate reason for
the student’s non-attendance a reason can
be sent by return email. We hope this will
allow parents to know very quickly if their
student is not at school, arrived at school
late or was absent for part of the day. If we
do not currently have your email address,
please contact the school if you wish to be
notified this way.
Vacation
Enjoy the vacation. School resumes for staff
and students on Tuesday 7th October 2014.

Long Service Leave
I will be on Long Service Leave for the first
three weeks of Term 4. Mr Carter will be
Relieving Principal, Mr Carswell Relieving
Deputy and Mr Coffey Relieving Head Teacher
HSIE during this time.
Principal School Leadership
I have accepted a 0.4 position as Principal
School Leadership which will commence when
I return from Long Service Leave Week 4 Term
4. I will be based at Cobar High School but will
be working with other Principals to assist them
with their planning etc. This means that Mr
Carter will be Co-Principal for two days, Mr
Carswell Co-Deputy and the Co Head
Teacher has not been selected yet.
Year 12
Year 12 complete their formal schooling at the
end of this term. Those who have HSC
examinations should utilise the time between
then and their examinations wisely. Practicing
past HSC examinations is a great way to
prepare. Best wishes for the future.
Sadness
It was with great sadness we heard of the
passing of Phil Jacobson. He was a great
member of the Cobar community when he was
here. Our thoughts are with his family, in
particular Bianka who makes such a positive
contribution to Cobar High every day through
her involvement in so many different activities.
This is also reflected in her community
involvement.
