It is a humbling experience to realize that I am not on the “front lines” of the gospel being proclaimed to the hurting and the lost. I sometimes long to be out in the field doing the work of an evangelist or making some great contribution to the work of Christ, when I hear the wonderful stories of how God is doing a mighty work on the various campuses around the States and the world through the Campus Outreach staff. But then I realize the importance of what I do in the work of Christ. I am able to use the gifts and talents that the Lord has given me to provide the necessary and essential technical support and planning that any mission organization needs. I realize that when I help a staff member get his laptop up and running quickly, that they are then able to take their focus off of the equipment and back onto the task they have been called to perform. When I am able to plan effectively and provide the necessary networking infrastructure, I can see how the dispersed staff are better able to communicate and coordinate to enhance not only their own ministry but to provide encouragement and vision planning.

Laptops, Servers, and the Great Commission… OK. I have to be honest. Sometimes I struggle with the calling to serve mission organizations with technical and computer support.

It has been such a tremendous blessing to serve the Lord at both Wycliffe and now with Campus Outreach. Even though I sometimes feel overwhelmed with the tremendous challenges that present themselves every day in the office, I would not change one thing. The staff at Campus Outreach is very encouraging and continually expresses their thankfulness for the work I perform. (See side note ) It is a tremendous blessing to work with Campus Outreach and see college student not only come to Christ for salvation, but to grow in their faith and then go out and reach their friends and neighbors. It is exciting to see the impact the gospel is having on this world’s future leaders and families.

This then leads me to my thankfulness for your participation in our ministry. You allow our family to give ourselves full-time to Campus Outreach. It has been such an amazing time as I look back and see how the Lord has continued to grow and develop us through the different aspects of being in missions. We have learned from experience that God will sustain us and prosper us even when it looks impossible. Our faith has been tested and stretched, but our God has been faithful and true.

It is amazing that we have been involved in ministry for over five years! Thank you for your continued support and faithful prayers for us. I feel like I don’t tell you enough personally how important you are to us, but please know that we pray for you and thank God every day for you. You have been such a blessing to us over these years and we

praise God that you have chosen to partner with us. Jeff

Thank You from Johannesburg

Hey man. Each year COJ’s administrative element (COMIN) does a year-end eval where we look at strengths and weaknesses of the past year. I just wanted to drop you a small note and let you know that your name was listed among our strengths, your help over this past year has been stellar and we are so very thankful for you, not only for assistance in all our questions but also for the man of God that you are. It was a real joy for me to get to meet you at the conference in October. Have a great day!

Message from Mom… What do I love most about Alabama? The crazy weather! Where else can it be 65° one day and wake up to snow the next morning? In March of all things… That was the day of Rachel’s 5th birthday party and it will be one that I will never forget!

Both girls are doing well and it looks like our family has managed not to be a flu statistic this year. Rebekah can “see the light at the end of the tunnel” in her catechism class and will recite all 150 questions and answers to an elder at Briarwood Church on Memorial Day weekend. Rachel overflows the floor daily with all her cutting, gluing, coloring, and various projects. She is our “crafty” one, which does not come from me.

I still enjoy leading the 4-5 year children’s church (Promiseland) and I am encouraged by the truths those little minds are able to grasp. As always, I want to express my gratitude to all of you who pray for us and give of your resources that allow us to carry on the work of the gospel here in Birmingham. Shawn
