Chris has over 20 years of experience helping healthcare organizations successfully maneuver through complex business and technical initiatives including strategic IT planning; clinical, ancillary, financial and ambulatory system selections and implementations; and health system operations improvement. He is known for building, developing and leading highly effective teams while providing a stable calming influence in a sea of turmoil. Originally from San Diego, Chris received his Bachelor’s Degree in History and Master’s in Public Administration, both from Brigham Young University. Chris and his wife are happy to be back in Provo, where they have two of their four children attending Brigham Young University. This year’s Wellness program has several activities coming up to help you reach your wellness goals, including Zumba and Yoga classes for CUC employees. Gather up your co-workers and lets Zumba! Zumba class will be every Wednesday at 5:30 in our wellness institute. Come in comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. A program calendar will be available soon with future times and dates. We are also doing initial health risk assessments this month. Make an appointment now to maximize the wellness program for the year. Want to get involved? We have several positions open in the wellness committee. Our meet- ings are held on the second Tues- day of each month (only one meeting a month). For more information on the wellness program or wellness committee, contact Cameron Valentine for more information at ext. 8023 Children who don’t read at their age-level are four times more likely to drop out of school than those who do. For children in poverty, they are six times more likely. Central Utah Clinic recently donated $10,000 to the United Way Everyday Learners Program as the start of a year-long project to help children read better. But this donation is just the start, everyone at the Clinic can help make this an monumental improvement for the communities. The Clinic will host a book drive to support our local communities, from Ogden to St. George. The books will go right back into the local schools and homes of children in desperate need of education. We are trying to raise 10,000 books to match the $10,000 monetary contribution. This goal requires the aid of every employee and patient at the Clinic to make it happen. As you start your spring-cleaning, make sure to save all your books to donate, so we can help improve literacy throughout the state together. Stay tuned for more information in our next newsletter. Central Utah Pharmacy Begins Inter-Office Delivery

Joseph Te, MD joined Central Utah Clinic this past fall, along with K. Didion, ARNP-BC. Dr. Te has been practicing in the St. George area for the past 14 years, spen-ding the last nine running his own practice

He served a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Coney Island Hospital and Maimonides Hospital.

Dr. Te completed his residency in Internal Medicine at New York University and Manhattan Veterans Affair Medical Center, after attending Far Eastern University-Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation in Manila, Philippines. He received his undergraduate degree in Medical Technol-ogy.

Dr. Te is a member of many organizations including the American Academy of

Clinical Oncology and the Philippine Medi-cal Association.

He consistently takes part in clinical trials and pharmacy assistance programs. Dr. Te takes an active role in his patients’ health by providing excellent care along with patient support groups and educa-tional courses.

Besides spending time with his wife, three sons and daughter, Dr. Te enjoys sport shooting, boxing, basketball, and cock fighting. He is a movie buffand a great conversationalist.

New Mileage Rate for 2013by Janalyn Olsen, Accounts Payable Accountant

The IRS issued the new 2013 standard mileage rate for the use of a car to .565 per mile driven.

"Mileage incurred that is ordinary and necessary to the Clinic's business and should be approved prior by a supervisor" Reimbursements that include dates for 2012 that are not more than 120 days; will continue to be .555 per mile. Please keep this in mind when you prepare your reimbursement requests.
