To begin with 1348 newcomers

joined Our College, this academic

year, Fresher's day was celebrated on

15.07.2016. The Inspector General of

Police, Central Zone,

N.K.Senthamarai Kannan was the

chief guest at the fresher‘s day. Secre-

tary Pon. Ravichandran presided over

the function, Principal

T.Jayaprakasam welcomed the gather-

ing, Dean A.Prabaharan anchored the

event. N.K. Senthamarai Kannan said

"Life is difficult sometime for every-

one in these critical times. But for po-

lice personnel there is no pleasant

time in life except serving the country

and ensuring security for everyone.

Those who want to join the Indian Po-

lice Service should get ready to face

the difficult terrain. They should pre-

pare themselves from the tender age

to face the difficulties. Youth must

differentiate between the actual needs

and unwanted needs. At present many

problems arise because of the social

media networks.

If one is careful in using the so-

cial media as per the needs, there is no

problem in life. But most of the peo-

ple are careless in sharing their private

lives, photos and information with the

strangers which poses high risks to

their lives".

To build up the English commu-

nication skills, NMC organized a

summer camp in the name of "Mentor

Camp". Seeing the success of the

camp, the plan was included it every-

day class. Those who had enrolled in

the classes were given cash incen-

tives. Around 53 mentors were hon-

ored in the fresher‘s day.

Exclusive GYM for men under

the U.G.C. infrastructure Scheme has

been constructed in our campus to ca-

ter the fitness needs of our boys. Our

Secretary Thiru.Pon. Ravichandran

inaugurated the gym on 04.07.2016 at

4.00 p.m. The President Thiru. Pon.

PG & Research Department of

Computer Science organized a 4 day

Foundation course on Computer and

its applications from 04th July 2016 to

11th July 2016.

The course had been initiated to pro-

vide basic knowledge about comput-

ers and its applications for those who

joined in 1st year Computer Science

and Computer Applications. The top-

ics like History and generations of

computer, followed by the demonstra-

tion of hardware Components, Algo-

rithm and Flowchart and Computer

Applications were covered during the

programme.

The students were familiarized with Operating System like Windows and Linux

followed by Basics of internet and job Opportunities. Each student was motivat-

ed to learn and utilize the facilities related with computers.

Totally 140 students participated in this program. Dr.T.Jayaprakasam, the

Principal presided over the function. Er.Pon.Balasubramanian, President, Col-

lege Committee offered felicitation. The program was coordinated by

Prof.M.Muralidharan, Head and the faculty members of the Department of

Computer Science.

The Department of Chemistry of

our college organized a one day semi-

nar on the topic ―Ignite, propel &

reach to the unreachable‖ on

18.07.2016

Our Principal Dr. T. Jaya-

prakasam delivered the inaugural ad-

dress in the function and the function

was felicitated by Er. Pon. Bal-

asubramanian. Prof.

R.Shanmugapriya Head, Department

of Chemistry welcomed the gathering.

Dr. S.SELVAKUMAR, Scien-

tist, SDSC-SHAR Centre – ISRO Sri-

harikota , delivered a lecture on the

topic Reach to the Unreachable . He

explained about the principles of

rocket launching and inspired the stu-

dents by showing animated videos of

rocket science.

The PG & Research Department of

Zoology conducted a special lecture

on 28/07/2016.

Dr. B.Ashok Kumar, Assistant Profes-

sor, School of Biotechnology, Madu-

rai was the chief guest of the occa-

sion. He explained in detail on folic

acid deficiency disease and Thiamine

deficiency disease. He also spoke on

the genetic causes while causes vita-

min deficiency. He offered sugges-

tions for the prevention of such defi-

ciency diseases and he also empha-

sized the importance of proper diet.

The students were highly benefitted

and motivated by his talk. Dr. N.

Ramesh, Assistant Professor of Zoolo-

gy welcomed the gathering, Dr.T. Ja-

yaprakasam, the Principal, presided

over the meeting. At the end of the

programme Dr.K. Saravanan, Assis-

tant Professor of Zoology proposed

vote of thanks. Ms. Komalavalli of II

M.sc Zoology Compiled and did the

Master of Ceremony.

ABEL, an Interdisciplinary Re-

search Cell of PG & Research Depart-

ment of Mathematics conducted an

Orientation Programme on “Success

at your Door Step” under the aegis

of UGC autonomous grant on 29th Ju-

ly, 2016 at Seminar Hall for UG and

PG students of Mathematics. The ob-

jective of the Orientation Programme

was to motivate the students to identi-

fy their inherent skills and talents and

to make them successful person in the

future. Dr. K. Muralidaran, M.A.,

Ph.D. Associate Professor (Retd) De-

partment of Social Work, PSG Col-

lege of Arts and Science, Coimbatore

was the Resource Person. Dr.

T.Jayaprakasam, the Principal, presid-

ed over the function.

commerce of our college organized an

one day special lecture on Entrepre-

neur Development. They also formed

a club known as tycoon club to pro-

mote the entrepreneurship among the

students. They club was inaugurated

by Shri.Pon.Balasubramanian, Presi-

dent of our college.

Thiru.N.Kanagasabapathi, B.E., pro-

prietor, R.K group of Industries,

Trichy, delivered a special lecture on

Entrepreneurship.

He highlighted his experience

and suggested that one should have

the will and vision to become an en-

trepreneur. Dr.T.Jayaprakasam, the

To promote awareness among

the students to take up career in gov-

ernment services and allied services,

the career guidance cell of our college

organized weekend classes every Sat-

urday.

On 16.07.2016 Triru.R. Selva-

kumar, Librarian and staff in-charge

of career guidance cell delivered lec-

ture and interacted with the students

on a wonderful topic „you can be-

come an IAS officer‟.

On 23.07.2016 Thiru.R. Selva-

kumar, Librarian and staff in-charge

Career Guidance Cell conducted a

class to motivate the students to get

job in government services by writing

the exams conducted by the Govern-

ment.
