From the Editor’s desk
We are pleased to put forward the College Bi-annual Newsletter
(Issue 1, July – December 2018 of Academic year 2018-19) of Guru
Gobind Singh Foundation’s Guru Gobind Singh College of
Engineering and Research Centre, Nasik before you. The past
semester was full of various activities by the students and faculty in
academic, co-curricular, extra-curricular as well as research &
developments. This shows the positive and creative energy of
faculty members and students present in the college. Usually we fail
to appreciate the good deeds of many people and activities that
happen around us. Thus this Newsletter is a medium to
acknowledge such efforts and present them to all stakeholders like
management, students, parents, faculty, alumni, employers etc.
The semester we witnessed various events and activities like the
First Year and Direct Second Year Orientation program, Visit of
Parampoojaya Anandmoorti Gurumaa, Second ISO surveillance
audit, Civil technical event named, “ANANT 2K18”. The newsletter
covers key developments in the institute spanning across the last six
months both within academics as well as beyond the academic
fronts which kept the campus life abuzz with enthusiasm. This
edition of our bi-annual newsletter will make you familiar with our
impressive growth story with a glimpse of recent events on the road
to provide quality education along with cutting edge research in
various Engineering fields.
It is expected that wide support for this mission will be provided
through the reader's valuable suggestions and comments. Thanks
to those of you who contributed to it as these contribution are

GURU GOBIND SINGH FOUNDATION
From a small seed sown, 4 decades ago the institution has risen to a big tree, all through relentless efforts of its founders
members, qualified faculties and students, who have left no stone unturned to bring laurels, trophies and citations in the field
of education.
With humble beginnings in 1978, Guru Gobind Singh Foundation was formed by prominent and illustrious Sikh
residents of Nasik, as worthy followers of the great saint soldier “Guru Gobind Singh”. The foundation set upon itself the aim
of imparting high quality education with culture activities, ethics and social commitment to students.
Located in 12 acres Guru Gobind Singh Foundation houses 3 Institutes, Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Guru
Gobind Singh Polytechnic and Guru Gobind Singh College of Engineering & Research Centre with Ultra-Modern
Infrastructure and Green Campus.
All Institutes are equipped with state and art Laboratories for Students to the pursuit of educational and creative

Video Lecture
Auto CAD FDP
A video lecture by Prof. B V S Viswanadham (IIT
Bombay) was organized for SE Civil Engineering
students with an objective to make the students
aware of the subject and to sensitize them about
properties of soil.
Guest Lecture was organized for BE students in which the resource person was Mr. Dinesh Bhujbal (Scientist,
DRDO) with the objective to understand the role of mechanical engineer in DRDO, Along with process and
qualification for applying in DRDO.
Department of Civil Engineering organized a
Faculty Development Program. The objective of
the said FDP was to discuss the usage of AutoCAD
in various Civil Engineering activities.
NSS activity - Tree plantation
Tree plantation activity was conducted under NSS unit of, Guru Gobind Singh College of Engineering and
Research Centre. The main goal of the activity is to plant trees, increase awareness in students & surrounding
area about importance of trees.

person was Er. Sanjay Rode, Guru Datta Infrastructure, Nashik with the objective to let the students know

Swachhata Abhiyan activity was conducted
under NSS unit of, Guru Gobind Singh College
of Engineering and Research Centre. The
main goal of the whole activity is to increase
awareness about Swachhata & spreading the
message of Swachhata.
Faculty Development Program on "We are
teaching… are they Learning??" was organized
by Civil Engineering Department. The aim of the
program was to bring uniformity in the teaching
and assessment of the students for which Dr.
Sunil Kute, Professor, KKWEEIR, Nashik was
the Resource person.
Awareness Rally activity was conducted under
NSS unit of, Guru Gobind Singh College of
Engineering and Research Centre. The main goal
of the whole day activity is to create awareness
about Right to Education for Girl child.

of capacitor, their specifications, design,

An Expert Lecture on Prestressed Concrete
Girder. The idea was to elaborate the concept of
Prestressed Concrete Girder design & detailing,
so that the students won’t face any problems
while designing critical sections. The Resource
person was Prof. Dr. M.R. Wakchaure
The program was organized for TE & BE
Mechanical students by METOCAD
ACADEMY. Mr. Yogesh Metkar owner of
METOCAD ACADEMY explained our students
about expectation of industry from fresh
engineers & also emphasize on importance of
CAD/CAM/CAE.
The visit was arranged under the social awareness
activities to Traffic Educational Park, Nasik to
know the rules and regulations of road traffic and
create its awareness among the students.

Parampoojaya Anandmoorti Gurumaa conducted motivational session on values and ethics for our students
on 12.10.2018 at our campus. She also extended financial support for girl students of help upto 2.5 lakhs.
An expert session was arranged for Civil Engineering students on tunnelling. Expert person was Mr.
Permindur Singh, CEO GGSF who shared his field experiences related with tunnelling projects, the difficulties
arrived during the execution of work with the students.

ACTIVITIES IN THE MONTH OF DECEMBER
Expert session on “Women at workplace” was organized by Women Grievance’s Cell of Guru Gobind Singh
College of Engineering and Research Centre. The session was conducted by Adv. Prerana Desphande through
mono act and gave important message regarding legal rights of women.
