NEWSNew Board Elected for 2019–2020
A new board was elected at the May 8, 2019 meeting of the RRMS PTSO. Thank you to outgoing members and leaders of the 2018-2019 PTSO: Shay Porter, Xanthe Larsen, Lisa Perdue, Beth Williams, James Balcerowicz, and all of the parents, teachers and students who volunteered this year!
For the 2019–2020 school year, Colleen Quintana (President), Catherine Woodson (Treasurer), Holly Ramey (Secretary), and Maxine Inman (Member at Large) were elected to the board. We also welcomed committee leads Kirsten Ly (Communications) and Joy Johnson (Box Tops and Spirit Wear). Leadership profiles will be posted to the school website (under parent groups).
Join the PTSO
Joining the PTSO is a great way to support our administrators, teachers, and students, while staying informed about school events and fundraisers. You’ll even receive this newsletter via email! The PTSO will publish invitations to special events and Sign Up Genius emails for volunteer opportunities. If you join over the summer, dues are only $15.00 per family (see flyer). PTSO meetings begin in September, so be on the lookout for a schedule posted to the web and social media.
The PTSO board is planning a new slate of fundraising activities this year to cover expenses during the 2019–2020 school year.
Sneaker Fundraiser
Save those used sneakers for our inaugural sneaker fundraiser. (See attached flyer.)
Spirit Wear!
Express your Mustang Pride with RRMS branded spirit wear and October Pink Out themed spirit wear for breast cancer awareness.

TEACHER TIMEWish List
Membership dues, donations, events and fundraisers provide us with the means to pay for the following:
• New equipment. New laptops and iPads with educational software. Our goal is to have this technology available to every student.
• New this year: Teacher grants. Teachers are encouraged to submit a questionnaire with items they need for their classroom or area of study, to enhance their teaching. Every month, a teacher will be selected at random to receive $100 toward their wish list item.
Supporting Our Teachers and Staff
With your help, we would like to sponsor the following activities to show our appreciation to teachers and staff throughout the school year:
• Back to School teacher survival kit
• Back to School night catered dinner
• Stocking the fridge with drinks, snacks, and sweets at special times throughout the year
• Catered luncheons and events to celebrate holidays and staff appreciation days
Rewards Programs
The PTSO is continuing our long tradition of asking teachers, parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors of the middle school to sign up for Harris Teeter, Amazon Smile, Coke and Office Depot Rewards to be linked to our school. We benefit from every purchase made, and every penny counts! (See flyers for more information about enrollment codes and deadlines.)

There, you’ll find links to board member profiles, flyers, monthly newsletters, board meeting minutes, and any other information you need to stay current. If you would like to volunteer, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a board member. We are looking for a Sneaker Fundraiser Lead and a Rewards Program Lead, so please let us know if you’re interested. We could use your help!
STUDENT FUNBack to School Bash
Mark your calendars for a fun back to school event the week before school starts. Turn in all of your necessary paperwork for the school year and get your locker number and combination. Last chance to order Spirit Wear and join the PTSO at a discount.

Keep an eye out for information on dances and other school activities, both on and off campus.
