Principles of a Glasser Quality School (GQS)

The Glasser Quality School: Process in Action document has now been finalized.

The effort toward improving the systemic application of Choice Theory in schools

throughout the world has taken a new step forward with the development of a new

process for Glasser Quality Schools.

Previously, the process focused on training teachers and staff in Choice Theory

through the traditional Basic and Advanced trainings and practicums leading to

certification.

The new model will focus on systemic

improvement, will be more cost effective

for schools, and offers each school more

autonomy.

In a nutshell, a Glasser Quality School

environment is perceived as a joyful place

based on trust, cooperation, and respect.

Students, staff and parents are

encouraged to learn Choice Theory and

its application at school and in their lives.

Total Learning Competency ensures that

useful and meaningful work is done.

To learn more about Glasser Quality Schools/Choice Theory Schools, the processes

involved , and the benefits of having a school embark on this journey, take a look at

the paper Glasser Quality School: Process in Action which will be available at

www.wglasserinternational.org

Glasser Canada shall also post Quality School: Process in Action online at

www.glassercanada.ca/ in the near future. We are awaiting an answer from WGI – US

to place their document entitled The Glasser Quality School Information and Rubric on

our site since it helps schools self-evaluate the steps or stages they have reached

within the process.

Embarking on a Journey of Self-Discovery:

How to help yourself and others live more satisfying lives

RAISON D'ÊTRE

Organizational transitions, business closures, job losses and technological changes are

just some of the factors that exponentially increase the level of stress, inevitably

leading to emotional destabilization of individuals. This destabilization, in turn,

increases the loss of self-control and precipitates risks which, in many cases, lead to

the development of physical or mental illnesses.

A Unique Initiative

This hybrid online course

offers more flexibility to

people with busy schedules.

Each module on Choice

Theory presents written

content, narrative,

interactive animations, and

varied methods of self-

evaluation.

This novel approach aims at rendering this learning experience interesting, exciting,

and creative.

The course takes advantage of the same instruction and activities of the traditional

person-to-person model, presently used by William Glasser International Inc. and

Member Organizations. This online training course combines the best practices of

online learning while including those of the in-class model to establish the

relationships necessary for optimal learning.

Collaborative Partnerships

Ms. Goguen is grateful to Glasser Canada, Mrs.

Carleen Glasser and William Glasser international

Inc. for encouraging and supporting her in this

ambitious endeavor. The Community College of

New Brunswick (CCNB), as a creative and

innovative partner, offers the program as an

online course with developing animations to

engage learners in their own learning.

CCNB, with many years of experience,

collaborated in uploading the material through its

technical department in Canada's both official

languages of French and English to meet the

needs of its population.

It is in this spirit of collaboration that The Key

Associates Inc. and the CCNB gained the financial

support of the province of New Brunswick,

through the Department of Post-Secondary

Training and Labour, enabling the online Choice

Theory course to make learning more interactive,

more dynamic, and more accessible for the

benefit of all.

You can get a sense of the course by viewing the

animation at this link:

John has already begun applying

some of the interactive activities in

his work. Good job, John!
