A Word from the PastorA Word from the Pastor

“Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

Romans 15:7

A newsletter article was one of the first things on a list of to-do items during our first week of ministry here at Advent Lutheran Church. With just a couple of days under my belt, I began to write this article. When I began typing, the events of the past days kept replaying in my heart and mind, such as:

An apple and welcome letter waiting on the desk

Warm welcomes from people- either in person or by phone or by email

Multiple breakfast and dinner invitations

An invitation to participate in the GAP ministry

A transition team meeting held to help get acquainted with the area and minis-

tries of Advent

A family opening up their home and life

50 year Anniversary Celebration

And much more.

What a warm welcoming in Jesus’ name. I am looking forward to the time when, together,

we can also welcome Pastor Andrea, Kate, and Timmy to Augusta. However, if these first six

days here are any indication of what the past 50 years of ministry has been like at Advent Lu-

theran church, then there is definitely a bright future ahead for this church.

As we begin together a new chapter in the life and ministry of Advent Lutheran Church, may

be continue to be grounded in Christ Jesus and the call to welcome. In welcoming one an-

other I Jesus’ name, God is glorified! May God always be glorified through the life and min-

istry of Advent Lutheran Church.

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Jason and Pastor Andrea

Summer Music Calling all musicians! The Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir will be on a well-deserved vacation during this summer. Thanks for all of their hard work! But I would still like to have special music each Sunday during the summer. If you would be interested in singing a solo, a duet, or playing an instrument, please let me know. I would like to work out a schedule so that we have some kind of anthem/solo/instrumental piece each Sunday this summer. This is the time to use your talents for God's glory! Please contact me at the church office. ~Ginny
