This campaign connects people with Christ, here and around the world in developing countries, through the internet, television, radio, and print media. And fifty percent of funds collected re-main in our diocese to fund local communica-tions efforts. Your support helps spread the gos-pel message! To learn more, visit www.usccb.org/ccc. Combined with this collection is a collection for Catholic University of America in Washington, DC which under-writes scholarships to assist finan-cially deserving students in com-pleting their education at CUA in over 50 disciplines.

In preparation for Pentecost (next Sunday – May 20) pray this prayer each morning and evening this week. Open yourself to God doing something new in your life.
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. Amen.
Welcome to Jack Jerome Berger, son of Jerome and Kelsey Berger, baptized into a new life in Christ and His Body the Church this weekend! May God give us as well as his parents the grace to help him grow to full spiritual maturity.
“Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.”- John 3:5

We will take up the Father’s Day collection
on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of
June. This collection is very important in
that it provides for the health insurance,
Medicare and unreimbursed medical and
dental expenses for our retired priests.
Priests in the Diocese of Crookston may not retire until
they are 70 years old (unless their health dictates a
rest) and many continue to serve as weekend substi-
tutes, long term substitutes, spiritual directors, chap-
lains and participants in reconciliation services long
after they officially retire. Msgr. Mike Patnode, who
most recently served as Pastor of St. Francis de Sales
Parish in Moorhead will be featured on the back cover
of the May 16th issue of the OND. He speaks from the
heart about his first year of retirement. Enjoy the arti-
cle and please give generously to the Father’s Day Col-
lection!
Reminder To All Three Parishes -- There is a Special Envelope for Cemetery Mainte-nance on May 27 -- This money is used to maintain the cemeteries and if there is an excess it is put into each cemetery’s perpet-ual care fund. Both Badger and Roseau need to increase their perpetual care fund.
Prayer For Mothers
Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, pray
for all mothers, so that they will be able to
fulfill their maternal responsibilities. Help
them to be lovers and nurturers of all hu-
man life from the moment of conception
until natural death, all the while being examples for their
own children. Pray for their children, so that they, too, will
be faithful followers of Your Son. We offer these prayers in
Jesus’ name, in union with the Holy Spirit, one God forever
and ever. Amen.

Capital Campaign Update The capital campaign committee met this past week to plan the steps it will take as we move forward with the building process and capital campaign. A quarterly report will again be sent out in June to all pa-rishioners in regard to their pledges. Along with this there will be an update on the financing and pledging needed to cover the loan that will be required to cover the second half or less of the building project. A lot will depend on the bids that we receive on the project and when the con-tractor can begin the project. Otherwise, in general we are in a very good position with the funds and pledges that have been coming in to handle the financing of our building project. -- Fr. John and Capital Campaign Committee
ST. MARY’S PARISH, BADGER
Building Renovation Team Update The team met with architect, Mike Johnston, on Tues. and was updated on some smaller changes required by the building code. A new date for the building walk-through with contractors is set for May 17 with bids due in on Mary 29.
Wanted -- persons to lead the VBS this summer Some of the young adult group and their families are aging a bit beyond the Pre-school - 6th grade focus of the traditional VBS program. Formed.org: Pentecost and the Holy Spirit
As we prepare for Pentecost, we invite you to ex-plore the Holy Spirit through a program from Ireland called The Wild Goose that can be found at-Formed.org.
Check our parish website at: www.roseaucatholic.org and follow us on Face-book and Twitter for recommended topics and vide-os to watch.
Our first topic is: "The Breath of God", segment 2. "For the spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the almighty gives me life." -Job 33:4
SH Rummage Sale--THANK YOU to everyone who donated, set-up, worked at, and cleaned up the par-ish rummage sale. It was a record year! We had the most donations, the most giving to various minis-tries, and the most profit to be used for supporting
our youth. The sale had a profit of $1183.55 (average is $800-$900). Most importantly it was wonderful to have items from the sale donated to many good causes like Coats for Kids, Salvation Army, Mission quilts, Fire Rescue, school nurse, kindergarten teachers, group homes, an out of town parish choir who makes rugs to support their minis-try work, pregnant women, Roseau Library, and much more!
Thank you to all who helped at the Confirma-
tion Mass and Meal. You are appreciated.
A Donation was given to the parish from the es-
tate of +Leo Walsh. Half of the donation went to-
wards the new storage shed being built and half went
to a fund in our parish budget for charity needs.
Thank you to John and Dolores Walsh for thinking of
our parish. Looking for good used self-propelled
mower! The Sacred Heart Church is look-
ing for a good used self-propelled push
mower. Please contact the office or Fr.
John if you have one that the Church can purchase.

“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God
abides in him, and he in God.” – 1 JOHN 4:15
How strong is your faith? When you have an opportunity
to either defend or clarify a question about our Catholic
faith, do you do it? Or, do you remain silent so that others
don’t think you are weird? Pray for the courage to be
strong in all circumstances and to share your witness with
others.
St. Isidore the Farmer -- Feastday - - May 15 Those who till the soil, raise animals, grow forests and conserve our God-given natural resources are examples of professions that give abundant opportunity for holi-ness and the virtues of Christian life. These professions unify the human condition and nature. St. Isidore the Farmer, the patron saint of farmers and laborers is a good example. He was a Spanish day laborer in the service of a wealthy land owner, Juan de Vargas, on his farm near Madrid. Born of poor but devout parents, Isidore was a simple man of the earth who lived his life in a spiritual relationship with the land he worked. His parents did not have the means to procure for him a formal educa-tion. They did, however, instill in him a deep love for every virtue, especially for prayer. With his humble and prayerful lifestyle, Isidore did not need books as a source of meditation for his saintliness. Isidore went to work in the fields of Vargas at a very early age, eventually being put in charge of his entire estate. He worked on the Vargas estate until his death at the age of 60. St. Isidore attended Mass daily before going to work in the fields. It is reported that once when Isidore was late getting to the field from Mass and his co-workers complained, his master checked and found Isidore at prayer while an angel did his work for him. On another occasion, his master observed an angel plowing on ei-ther side of Isidore so that his work was equal to that of three of his fellow laborers. Stories of his saintliness are too numerous to men-tion. Many graces have been reported at his shrine.
Prayer for Farmers Lord God, from the beginning of time you commanded the earth to bring forth vegetation and fruit of every kind. You provide the sower with seed and give bread to eat. Grant we pray that our farms enriched by your bounty and cultivated by human hands may be fertile with abundant crops. Then your people enriched by the gifts of your goodness will praise you unceasingly now and for ages unending. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
