Grand Knight’s Report
My Brother Knights,
In July, brother Knights Marvin Dupre, Vince Naquin, Louis Savoie and I attended the Knights of Columbus Leadership Seminar in Prairieville. As the new Grand Knight, they overloaded me with packages of forms, reports and too much information! The lectures were excellent and very informative. Our council has 121 official members as of July 29 th. Our regular attendance at our monthly business meetings average approximately 16 to 18 members. That’s about 1.5% of the membership! I know how hectic it is working all day, raising a family and the responsibilities of family life; however if you would come and join us once in a while, I feel certain you would enjoy the fellowship and a good meal. Please make an effort to come join us and renew old friendships. We have a family day scheduled for September 25th in Dulac at their KC Home. This function is in conjunction with our District Gumbo Cook-Off. The judging will begin at 10:00AM. We will have food, music and fun. ‘Hope to see you there!

Hello ladies!
As we enter the peak of hurricane season, I pray that everyone will be kept safe and storm-free this year. Remember there is a prayer for protection against storms in the weekly bulletin. The bake/taste contest is always so entertaining so please come and join in the fun and bring your favorite dessert! Winners will bake their recipe for the November 5th state meeting in Bayou Blue. I look forward to seeing everyone there. The auxiliary is selling fun scarves for a fund-raiser. The colors are black w/gold fleur-de-lis, gold w/black fleur-de-lis, or purple w/gold fleur-de-lis! They are only $5 and make great gifts for family, any Saints or LSU fan, or yourself! See any board member or call me for details. This is to support our auxiliary. Yours in Christ,

Rachel; meaning "ewe", idiomatically: one
with purity, as described in the Hebrew
Bible, is a prophet and the favorite wife of
Jacob, one of the three Biblical Patriarchs,
and mother of Joseph and Benjamin. She was
the daughter of and the younger sister of
Leah, Jacob's first wife. Jacob was her first
cousin, as Jacob's mother Rebecca was
Laban's sister. Rachel is first mentioned in
the Bible in Genesis 29 when Jacob happens
upon her as she is watering her lamb. He had
traveled a great distance to find his mother’s
brother, Laban. Rebekah had sent him there
to be safe from his furious twin brother,
Esau. During Jacob's stay, he fell in love
with Rachel and agreed to work seven years
for Laban in return for her hand in marriage.
On the night of the wedding, the bride was
veiled and Jacob did not notice that Leah,
Rachel’s older sister, had been substituted for
Rachel. Whereas “Rachel was lovely in form
and beautiful,” “Leah had weak eyes.” Later
Jacob confronted Laban, who excused his
own deception by insisting that the older
sister should marry first. He assured Jacob
that after his wedding week was finished, he
could take Rachel as a wife as well, and
work another seven years as payment for her.
After Leah had given birth to four sons,
Rachel remained unable to conceive. She
became jealous of Leah and gave Jacob her
maidservant, Bilhah, to be a surrogate
mother for her. Bilhah gave birth to two
sons: Dan and Naphtali. After Leah
conceived again, Rachel was finally blessed
with a son, Joseph, who would become
Jacob's favorite child.

The Funny BoneThe Funny BoneThe Funny BoneThe Funny Bone God creates Adam, and soon Adam is complaining
that he's all alone in the Garden of Eden.
So God says, "Okay, I'll make you a companion, a
beautiful creature who'll cook and clean for you. It
will be able to converse intelligently on any subject,
and never ever complain or argue."
Adam says, "That sounds great."
God says, "The only thing is, it will cost you an arm and a leg."
Adam says, "Man, that's expensive. What can I get for a rib?"

Raising Awareness About Life Insurance Each September since 2003 has been designated as Life Insurance Awareness Month. Like
most awareness-raising campaigns, Life Insurance Awareness Month was created because there is
an overwhelming lack of understanding of the product among the general public. Each year, the
Life Insurance Market Research Association puts out the results from a recent survey, and
unfortunately, the numbers they report continue to be discouraging.
A recent survey found that 76 percent of people polled did not have a personal financial
advisor. Sixty-eight percent of that same survey group said their opinion of the current economic
conditions was somewhat unfavorable or very unfavorable.
In other words, a majority of those surveyed were uncomfortable with the economy and the
uncertainty it brings, yet they did not seek professional assistance. Maybe they spoke with their
friends and family. Maybe they hoped the instability would go away on its own. Maybe they did
not know to whom to turn.
If you fall into this category, please remember that as a member of the Knights of Columbus,
you have a full-time, professional agent you can call your own. My primary responsibility is the
care and service of your family’s life insurance, retirement and long-term care needs. I’ll answer
your questions because I want your decisions to be informed ones. I want to help.
Another LIMRA statistic said 43 percent of people did not buy life insurance because they
worry about “making the wrong decision.” Talk with me agent, and, afterwards, you’ll
understand that the only wrong decision was not purchasing sooner to protect your family’s
future.
