The Texas State Fair will mark its 125th anniversary in 2011. This will also be the Texas Lottery’s 19th year at the State Fair! Fairgoers can play their favorite multi-million dollar jackpot games, our other drawing games and our scratch-off games.

Players can play the multi-million-dollar jackpot games, Lotto Texas®, Mega Millions®, and Powerball®. Players can also play for big bucks in our other drawing games—Cash Five®, Texas Two Step®, Pick 3™ and Daily 4™, along with the always popular scratch-off games like $500 Million Frenzy and Texas Lottery Black. This year, approximately 50 different scratch-off games will be offered during the State Fair.

The Texas Lottery Luck Zone, located at the East Park Plaza on Coliseum Drive, will feature exciting player promotions like the Texas Lottery Spinning Wheel and the Texas Lottery Money Machine. When fairgoers purchase Texas Lottery tickets, they can spin the wheel to win exciting prizes including Texas Lottery scratch-offs and t-shirts or enter the Money Machine for a chance to win multiple scratch-off tickets.

The 2011 State Fair of Texas runs from September 30 through October 23 at Fair Park in Dallas. Come on by and play the Games of Texas!

Nicole Winship of Flint and her fiancé planned to get married in Las Vegas. The only problem was how to pay for the trip. Thanks to a second-chance drawing for The Price Is Right ® scratch-off game, nothing will stand in their way. Winship won one of the six Las Vegas trips awarded in the drawing.

The Price Is Right second-chance prize includes a trip for two to Las Vegas including airfare, hotel, $1,000 spending money, an additional $4,000 cash prize and tickets to a special lottery-winners-only edition of The Price Is Right Live! stage show.

“We didn’t have the money for a big wedding, so we thought we would have the wedding and honeymoon all in one,” said Winship. “The fact that we won this trip means that we will definitely be able to go.”

Winship has been a fan of the The Price Is Right for years and says this opportunity comes with a bit of nostalgia.

“I used to watch it all the time with my grandmother. That was back with Bob Barker.”

Now, she will be hoping to hear the famous call to “Come on down!” for herself.

Diana Barrios of Corpus Christi is much closer to buying a home, thanks to winning a $50,000 top prize in Silver & Gold, a Texas Lottery scratch-off.

In late April Barrios bought two tickets at the Snappy Foods #20, located at 4817 Ayers in Corpus Christi.

“For no reason in particular, I picked a $2 Neon 9s and a $5 Silver & Gold,” she said. “I’ve won before, so I was happy to win $2 on the Neon 9s, but

when I scratched the other one, I thought I’d won $50 and was thrilled. I finished

scratching the ticket inside the store and realized I had won $50,000. It made me start crying.”

“I’ve paid off my Tahoe and my husband and I have paid off our other

debts, too,” she said. “We still have enough money left over to make a down payment on a house and buy some furnishings for our home.”

Louie Epstein of San Antonio received a letter from the Texas Lottery telling him he’d won a prize. When he called to find out what it was, he was surprised to learn that his prize was two years’ worth of season tickets to the Houston Texans football games.

“All my letters are usually bills, but this one stuck out,” Epstein said. “The letter didn’t tell me what my prize was, so I was shocked, but in a good way, to learn that I would be able to see the Houston Texans play in Houston for two seasons. I have three sons, and they are very excited about this.”

Epstein had entered some non-winning Houston Texans tickets into a second-chance drawing and won his prize in the last of four regularly scheduled drawings that occurred on April 20.

Epstein says he always plays to win. “I always think I’m going to win, but when I do, I can hardly believe it, like this time. I’m going to keep playing and always planning for the best to happen. That’s how you win.”
