A Percussionist’s Guide to Check Patterns From beginner to advanced skill levels, Thom Hannum’s new book, A Percussionist’s Guide to Check Patterns, is designed to help percussionists at any level perfect their craft. Written for non-pitched percussion, keyboard, and drumset, the book provides a systematic approach to sticking rhythm patterns - ideal for developing reading skills, coordination and syncopation control. The book is accompanied by a CD for rehearsal and individual practice, as well as a Vic Firth Check Patterns poster. Students will work from A Percussionist’s Guide to Check Patterns throughout the Seminar. Students are also required to use Championship Concepts for Marching Percussion. You may purchase these items at Seminar check-in. The Mobile Percussion Seminar will now offer an expanded Leadership Training track designed to provide the students with tools to lead your percussion section after the Seminar concludes. Leadership sessions will be interactive and will challenge your section leaders with real life examples. Starting in 2013, the MPS program will now include daily sessions to develop leadership skills.
