the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, with a phenomenal view from the top of the cliffs. You will likely see puffins nesting just behind the lighthouse, and whales breaching in the waters below. We arrive in the town of Gander for a two night stay.

Day Seven – Gander, Twillingate: Twillingate embodies everything so many Newfoundland outports are famous for: stunningly rugged coastline, historical, picturesque streets, and lush countryside roads. In the waters off the coast, look for whales, dolphins, harp seals, seabirds, and icebergs. Twillingate is one of the stops along Iceberg Alley, a vast corridor of ocean that runs from Greenland. Returning via a scenic route to Gander, we visit the Avi-ation Museum, chronicling Gander’s role in development of transatlantic aviation, from the 1930s through 9/11, including steel recovered from the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Airframes include a 1940s canvas-covered Tiger Moth biplane, North America’s last intact Lockheed Hudson Bomber and other military and civilian aircraft. This airport, which played such a pivotal role on 9/11 (brought to life in the musical Come From Away) has a retro vibe and museum. This evening we will enjoy a special “Fabric of Canada” event in Gander.

Day Eight – To Cornerbrook: This morning we visit the town of Lewisporte, and take a scenic waterfront drive. Newfoundland’s outports and meandering coastline showcase the fascinating heritage of this population which came from many parts of the world, with a culture reflect-ing English, Irish, French and Aboriginal ancestors. And did we mention that Newfoundlanders are among the friendliest people you’ll ever meet? Warm and welcoming, fun loving and funny to the core...people here are known for their natural creativity, unique language and knack for storytelling. We continue our scenic drive and soon arrive in Cornerbrook, where we spend the night.

Day Nine – To Cow Head: Today we head into Gros Morne National Park. Stopping for an included lunch at a lovely waterfront restaurant, we get a sense of the mas-sive size of the mountains and fjords in Gros Morne. It took 485 million years for Mother Nature to create Gros Morne National Park, a place unlike any other on earth. A UNESCO World Heritage Site covering 1,805 square kilometres, the park is full of raw and enigmat-ic beauty. Experience the unique sensation of actually standing on the distinctive red landscape that is part of the Earth’s mantle, thrust up by the collision of tectonic

plates millions of years ago. We spend two nights in Cow Head. Relax and enjoy the area this evening, which features a sandy beach stretching for kilometers. Wander down and see the fishermen mending their nets, and soak in the atmosphere.

Day Ten – Gros Morne Sightseeing: We spend the day in Gros Morne today, with stunning vistas and fjords. We visit the Gros Morne Interpretation Centre with outstand-ing exhibits and displays, and even a walking trail close by. There will be plenty of opportunities for photography today, and options available for hikers. We return to Cow Head this evening and enjoy an evening of entertainment and an included dinner.

Day Eleven – To St. Anthony, L’Anse aux Meadows: The Vikings, the first Europeans recorded to reach the new world, landed at L’Anse aux Meadows over 1,000 years ago. Norse sagas had spoken of their discovery for centuries. But whether it was merely myth had always been debated...until the discovery of a small cloak pin in 1968, changed everything. This and subsequent archae-ological discoveries proved Leif Erickson and crews of Norse explorers settled here in Newfoundland and Lab-rador (or Vinland as they called it). L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the only authenticated Norse site in North America. Today, your visit will transport you back to where Vikings once stood. At the Viking Encampment, you can try blacksmithing or weaving, and talk to characters who will bring the Viking history to life. We spend the night in L’Anse aux Meadows

Day Twelve – St. Anthony and Cornerbrook: This morn-ing, we enjoy the spectacular St. Anthony Bight Loop, an easy 10-minute trail that just might be the highlight of the tour. It leads to an area with picnic tables and a great view of the water. So many icebergs run aground here that it is known as an iceberg graveyard. The whales and birds are plentiful...it is a mesmerizing sight. This afternoon, enjoy the scenery as we travel down the West Coast of the northern peninsula to Cornerbrook, where we spend our last night together. Dinner is included this evening.

Day Thirteen – Home: They say that there are places on this earth that continue to live inside of you long after you’ve travelled on. Newfoundland is like that. As we board our plane in Deer Lake to return home, we hope you will cherish your memories of this spectacular vacation.

Day One – To Toronto: We begin with a welcome gath-ering in Toronto, with dinner included and a performance of the smash hit musical Come from Away. This story chronicles the true story of the town of Gander welcom-ing in the thousands of stranded travellers in the wake of 9/11. It will warm your heart and prepare you for the amazing experience just around the corner.

Day Two – To St. John’s: A quick and convenient flight takes us to St. John’s, where we meet our coach for an un-forgettable Newfoundland experience. We spend 3 nights in St. John’s. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore downtown and lively George St., always a blaze of energy and music.

Day Three – St. John’s: A local guide joins us this morn-ing for a close look at the best of the city including Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi, the charming village-within-a-city, Jelly Bean Row, with colourful row houses, and much more. St. John’s is full of character and charisma. This afternoon we visit The Rooms, home to an extensive collection of artifacts, art and archival records, with engaging, multi-sensory, experiences. This unmistakable building offers unparalleled views of the harbour city. Enjoy the evening exploring the downtown area, full of restaurants, pubs, galleries and friendly people. The streets are some of the oldest in the New World.

Day Four – Whale Watching and St. John’s: This morning we travel the short distance to Bay Bulls, for a whale and puffin-watching cruise. One of the most spec-tacular whale watching places on Earth with the world’s largest population of humpback whales, this area also features 21 species of whales and dolphins. See the co-lourful Atlantic puffins, the most popular seabirds in Can-ada and the official bird of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Returning to St. John’s, you have your choice of after-noon activity. The GEO Centre, cut from the ancient rock of Signal Hill, takes us deep underground to experience the story of our earth and beyond. Through interactive exhibits and guided tours, you’ll discover the fascinating history of our planet, the incredible forces of nature that shaped our land, and the tragic story behind the sinking of the Titanic. You may wish to return to George Street, full of pubs, restaurants, and lively music.

Day Five – To Clarenville via Heart’s Content: A scenic drive takes us around Conception Bay and into Heart’s Content, where we visit the Cable Station where, in 1866, the first permanent telegraph cable connecting Europe and North America was hauled ashore, a time capsule of communications technology. Continuing on, we arrive in Clarenville late afternoon, where we enjoy a special “Screech-In” ceremony. We will all become honorary Newfoundlanders as we kiss the cod and down a shot of “Screech”.

Day Six – To Gander for two nights via Trinity and Bonavista: History, friendliness, and steadfast authen-ticity are woven into every aspect of the Trinity area. The town offers beautifully restored fishing rooms and saltbox houses, accommodations in historic buildings, and top-rated dining experiences. Houses, museums, art galleries, and other historic buildings preserved from the 19th century fill Trinity, with old-fashioned street signage marked in calligraphy. Watch a blacksmith at work, and visit the Cooperage to learn about barrel making. See the filming locations of The Shipping News and Random Passage. This afternoon we visit Bonavista, where John Cabot first discovered North America in 1497. We visit
