NEW Horse Competition ENTRY PROCESS All competitors must complete an ENTRY FORM and WAIVER, which are attached to the Schedule.

One Entry Form will need to be fully completed for each horse, or, if entering Riding Classes, for each rider. Additional copies can be downloaded from the Newcastle Show website www.newcastleshow.com.au

Post completed Entry Form, by the closing date, to the Horse Office, PO Box 53, Broadmeadow NSW 2292. No late entries will be accepted. Any entries received past this date will be returned for entry on the day.

ENTRIES TAKEN ON THE DAY WILL BE $6 PER CLASS

An Exhibitor Number will be created for each entry. These will be available at the Horse Office on the day of your competition. If you would like these posted to you prior to the Show, please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope with your Entry.

To gain Entry to the Ring, each competitor MUST show to the steward their Exhibitor Number and Ring Ticket. Without the Ticket and the number the competitor will NOT be allowed to compete.

Schedules do change every year: therefore, it is important that you read the Schedule thoroughly – including

the conditions or regulations, making note of the relevant information, for example:

NB Due to safety concerns, Competitors ONLY to enter Ring. For Juniors ONE adult supervisor per

competitor may enter. NO extra equipment including prams, chairs, umbrellas, etc. is to be taken in the Ring.

Drug Testing may be carried out at this Show. Any competitor found to have breached the ASC Disputes and Disciplinary regulations will be investigated by the ASC Disciplinary Committee. This policy can be found at www.agshowsnsw.org.au.

JUDGING All decisions of the judge/s will be final

All exhibitors are requested to refrain from conversing with the judge/s during judging unless asked to do so.

MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION Membership subscription for 2016 is $25.00 (junior membership is $20.00) and members may in turn purchase additional tickets for guests and children at $15 each, which allows them unlimited entry. Membership closes on 31

st January, 2016 so please contact the Show Office to apply.

HORSE EVENTS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

At 12.30pm there will be a 1 hour lunch break for all ring judging.

GATE ENTRY: Griffiths Road Gate only. All competitors must complete an Application for Entry Form and Waiver Form which are attached to this schedule, and Post both

completed Forms to the Horse Office, PO Box 53, Broadmeadow NSW 2292, by the closing date, Friday 19th

February 2016 at 5pm.

COMPETITOR ENTRY FEES:

All events $3 per class pre entry by 19th February, entries taken on the day will be $6 per class.

One Entry Form will need to be fully completed for each Horse, or, if entering Riding Classes, for each Rider. Additional copies can be made or downloaded

from the Newcastle Show website www.newcastleshow.com.au RIBBONS:

th place ribbons awarded in all classes. Champions and Reserves to receive special ribbons.

PRIZE MONEY: No prize money for classes. Champion and Reserve Champions will receive $10 and $5 respectively. Supreme Champions will receive a ribbon, unless

otherwise stated.

AWARDS: Champion & Reserve Champion awards will be made at the discretion of the judge. Other special awards will be awarded where stated in the schedule.

ENTRY TO THE RING: To gain entry to the ring, each competitor MUST show to the steward their Exhibitor Number and Ring Ticket. Without these number the competitor will NOT

ENTRY TO THE GROUNDS: For 2016 Show, a gate entry charge of $10 must be paid. All passengers and driver must pay the advertised gate price. Parking space for Horse Floats will

be provided to the driver of the vehicle at no additional charge on payment of gate entry. Please note: Entry benefits are available to Members of the Association. See page 2 note for further information. PLEASE NOTE THE $10 ENTRY IS ONLY VALID FOR COMPETITORS AND 2 OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. ADDITIONAL PASSENGERS MUST PAY THE STANDARD ENTRY CHARGE OF $18 Adult, $12 Concession and $10 Child.

HORSE FLOATS & TRUCKS: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT LIMITED PARKING and STABLING IS AVAILABLE INSIDE THE SHOWGROUND. Access to this area is via the Griffiths Road

gate - for this show, horse float parking is available on a ‘first come first served basis’. However, it is recommended to book stables.

STABLING & FEES: A stable application form for booking stables is set out in this schedule. Application must be lodged with fee to the Show Office by Friday 19

th February

2016 at 5pm.

.All Stable Fees must be paid prior to the event. Stable applications may also be forwarded by email to the Show Office on [email protected], or Donna at [email protected] but money must be paid by Friday 19

th February, 2016 at 5pm.

All competitors to supply own bedding, feed bins and water buckets.

PLEASE NOTE: STABLES WILL BE RE-ALLOCATED IF NOT ATTENDED BY 9 AM ON THE DAY OF BOOKING. COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY APPLICATION.

NO REFUND ENTRY FEE: One Entry Fee per horse /rider per event (Pairs = 1 entry). No refund will be given if Entrant is not present for competition. The Committee may consider a

refund under special circumstances if a Vet/Medical certificate is provided, however, the Committee reserves the right to refuse refund.

HORSE AGE: To be calculated from 1 August.

ATTENTION: All competitors in breed classes must be registered with their Association and MUST be current financial members - if not disqualification will occur.

Registration papers must be available on request. If insufficient entries, classes may be combined.

Every exhibitor bringing horses to the Show will be required to list each horse being shown, together with the PIC for the property from which it has come on the Waiver form before competing

STALLIONS & COLTS: Must be led by a bar, chain or bit when required and may only compete in those classes as set out for stallions and colts. Handlers must be 17 years and

over.

DRESS: All competitors must be suitably attired (including slacks, shirt, tie, boots, etc.) and must conduct themselves in an orderly manner at all times.

JUDGES: The Committee reserves the right to substitute a judge if deemed necessary and to delete or combine any class as required.

IMPROPER BEHAVIOUR: Outside assistance to competitors by word, by radio or any other method in Horse Ring Events will not be permitted. If in breach of this ruling, competitors

and their exhibits may be dismissed from the event and from the Showground. Competitors names to be submitted to the A.S.C.

DISPUTES: All disputes to be referred to the Ringmaster who will adjudicate if necessary with the help of a Disputes Committee, appointed prior to the commencement

of the Show. All disputes must be lodged within 1 hour of the event in question in writing together with a fee of $30 which will be forfeited if the dispute is not settled in favour of the competitor who raises the dispute.

VETERINARY SURGEONS: Will be available during the Show. Services rendered by the veterinary surgeons to animals at the Show will be at owner’s expense.

DEFINITIONS 1. LOCAL CLASSES: Restricted to residents of Newcastle City, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens Shire. 2. MAIDEN: Is a hack which has not been placed in any individual ridden hack class at any Official Show. 3. NOVICE: Is a hack which has not been placed 1st in any individual ridden hack class at any Official Show. 4. ELEMENTARY: One which has not won more than three first prizes in an individual class at any Royal Show. 5. INTERMEDIATE: Is one which has never been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any individual ridden hack class at any Royal Show including the R.N.A. 6. SUPREME HACK: Consists of Champion Ponies, Galloways, Hacks and Supreme Show Hunter. 7. The Champion will be selected from the 1st place winners from each of the eligible classes. Under no circumstances shall a Judge award equal Champions. 8. The Reserve Champion will be selected from the remaining 1st place winners and the 2nd place getters from the class which supplied the Champion. 9. Supreme Champion will be according to the Schedule. 10. A judge officiating at an Official Show is under no obligation to award 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place (any placing) if he/ she considered such placing not up to standard. 11. Show Hunters cannot compete in Open Rings 1 & 2. 12. Open Hacks cannot compete in Show Hunter Classes Ring 3.

(together the Suppliers) advise that participation (including passive participation) in animal handling at an agricultural show contains elements of risk, both obvious and inherent. The handling of animals is a dangerous recreational activity as animals can act in a sudden and unpredictable way, especially when frightened or hurt. 1. By signing this waiver I acknowledged that: 1.1 participation in animal handling is a recreational service for the purposes of section 139A of the Australian Competition and Consumer Act (Cth) 2010, and also a recreational activity for the purposes of section 5K of the Civil Liability Act (NSW) 2002;

1.2 participation in animal handling is a hazardous activity and may result in injury, loss, damage or death to me;

1.3 participation in animal handling requires certain skills and experience. I declare that I have sufficient skills and experience to be able to safely and properly participate in the events;

1.4 animals can act in a sudden and unpredictable ways, especially if frightened or hurt, or if exposed to loud or unfamiliar noises;

1.5 animal showing events will be held in close proximity to rides and large groups of people, and that there may be loud and unfamiliar noises which can frighten animals;

1.6 if the event is held outdoors, there are risks to me as a result of the weather conditions, including either extreme hot or cold weather, rain or wind;

1.7 insects or other animals may cause animals to become frightened and act in an unpredictable way;

1.8 there is inherent in events involving the handling of animals the risk of suffering injury including injuries caused by animals; and

1.9 I use the facilities of [name of show society] entirely at my own risk, as I find them and with the prior acceptance of the risk of possible danger to me. 2 If I suffer injury, loss or damage (Loss) while participating in an animal handling event, I will not hold the Suppliers, their employees or agents legally responsible for any Loss I suffer. I will not sue the Suppliers, their employees or agents for any claims, costs, damages or liability. I agree to release the Suppliers and their employees from legal responsibility for the services I have been provided and/or activity I have participated in.

3 I acknowledge and agree that my participation in the event and associated activities is dangerous and may have inherent risks as a result of which personal injury (and sometimes death) may occur. I acknowledge that the event and associated activities carry with them a significant risk of physical harm. I accept and assume all such risks of personal injury or death in anyway whatsoever arising from these activities and hereby waive my individual right to sue the Suppliers for all claims I or my representatives may have for such personal injury or death against the Suppliers in any way whatsoever arising from or in connection with these activities.

4 At the time of participating in the event, I have not been to any degree under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.

5 I will not consume any alcohol or illicit drugs while participating in the Event and agree that such use may result in me being excluded from the Event or other events with no entitlement to any refund of money paid for entry to the Suppliers.
