PURSUANT to section one hundred and twenty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor­

General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the following resolution passed by the Christchurch City Council on the twentieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and forty-seven, viz. :-

" The Christchurch City Council, being the local authority having control of the streets in the City of Christchurch, hereby by resolution declares that the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1928, shall not apply to that portion of the north-eastern side of Bass Street adjoining the land contained in Certificate of Title, Volume 501, folio 191 " ;

subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall at any time be erected on the land fronting the north-eastern side of the portion of Bass Street (described in the Schedule hereto) within a djstance of forty-eight feet from the centre-line of the said portion of street.

visions of section twenty-four of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act, 1941, to raise a loan of one thousand pounds (£1,000), to be known as "Flood Damage Loan, 1948" (hereinafter called the said loan), for the purpose of contributing towards the cost of flood-damage works:

N ow, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and oonsent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section eleven of the Local Government Loans Board Act, 1926, as set out in section twenty-nine of the Finance Act, 1932 (No.2), and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby consent to the raising by the said local authority of the said loan for the said purpose up to the amount of one thousand pounds (£1,000), and in giving such consent doth hereby determine as follows :-

(1) The term for which the said loan or any part thereof may be raised shall not exceed five (5) years.

called the said Order in Council), and subject to the determinations as to borrowing and repayment therein set out, consent was given to the raising by the Waipawa Hospital Board (hereinafter called the said local authority) of a loan of twelve thousand pounds (£12,000), to be known as "Pukeora Sanatorium Engineering Services Loan, 1944" (hereinafter called the said loan) :

The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days' notice of such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

4. Any five members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at the meeting.

6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be Chairman for such meeting.

7. If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself without reasonable cause from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

8. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such yea,r. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

9. The Board shall control the said reserves in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made hereunder.

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen's Settle­ment and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the

intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the said Act the . lands described in the First Schedule hereto, and a copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 19 on the lOth day of April, 1947, at page 439 ; I

And whereas an objection was made by the owners in the manner prescribed by. the sajd Act objecting to the taking of the said lands and claiming the right to retain part of the said lands: '

And whereas the MJnister of Lands did not revoke his notice of 'intention to take the said lands:

And whereas the Minister of Lands did agree to the retention by the owners of the area specified in the said objection:

And whereas the owners have withdrawn the objection to the taking of the lands described in the Second Schedule hereto:

FIXING MAXIMUM PRICES OF BOARD PRODUCTS TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES

5. (1) Subject to the following provisions of this clause,the maximum price that may be charged or received by Whakatane Paper Mills, Ltd., foc any board products to which this, Order applies shall be the appropriate price fixed in the Schedule hereto.

(2) The maximum prices fixed by this O(der apply only with respect to' board pr()ducts for which orders are accepted' for delivery in the April-June, 1948, cycle;' or s.p.cceeding cycles.

(3) The maximum prices fixed by this Order are fixedwtth respect to board products that conform to the formula submitted

- ,to and approved by the Tribunal and that are of a size not less than 20 in. by 25 in. with a minimum across the machine of 20 in. with 25 in. cut off. Where board products of a . smaller size, being not less in any case, than 15 in. by 20 in., are sold' the respective maximum prices may be increased by £2' per ton. .

(4) The maximum pricesfi~edby this Qrder are fixed for quantities of not less· than 3 tons of one size, caliper, and quality, . or of not less than 5 tons of one caliper and quality, with not more than two sizes in one delivery, and where deHv~ry is required otherwise than in conformity with this subclause the maximum prices may be increased by £2 per ton.

(5) The maximum prices fixed by this Order for combination board are for sales of not less than 1,000 sheets of a size 30 in. by 40 in. For sales of a lesser number 'of sheets an additi<~nal charge may be made at the rate of not more than £2 per 1,090 slieets~' ,

E VERY person and company, whether. a taxpayer or not,. being . the owner of land in New Zealand within the meaning of the

Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and regulations t,hereunder, is hereby required to furnish on or before the 9th April, 1948, in the prescribed form, a return of such land as at 12 noon on 31st l\farcl:t, 1948, where the total unimproved value, as assessed under the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, exceeds £500.
