This year many people have resolutions to eat healthier. Tabitha Perry, Assistant Store Manager of Natural Grocers, said this is their busiest time of the year. "It definitely gets busier just with new years resolutions," Perry said. However, people shopping at Natural Grocers are not only looking for healthy foods but vitamins as well. Perry said they come in looking for a variety of things from fruit to snacks and multivitamins to protein shakes. Eating healthy isn't the only resolution affecting our area is seeing. Many people are also trying to quit smoking, but they are not doing it with gum or patches they are using vaporizers or electronic cigarettes. Frank Blankenship, Owner of Lucky Ruckus Vape Shop, said people use vaping to quit smoking because they believe it actually helps them quit. "I think what people are finding is it's and effective alternative to tobacco," Blankenship said. "It gives you the same motions that you enjoy when you're smoking without a lot of the harmful side affects and its an effective to tobacco cigarettes." Perry believes many people don't stick to their resolutions because they change their diets too quickly. CONNECT Couldn't load plugin.

"They cut out everything at the beginning of the new year and they miss itand that's what makes them brake it and go back to eating the way theywere," Perry said. "If they would make smaller adjustments I think that wouldhelp a lot." Perry suggests making small changes at first like substitutingsweet potatoes for white potatoes.

However, Blankenship believes no one will stick to their resolutions until theyare really ready to change.

"You're not ever going to really commit to whatever your resolution is,whether it is a new years resolution or midyear resolution until you're trulyready," Blankenship said.

Both stores said increased sales from the New Year decrease aroundmarch.
