An experienced medical device developer and executive, Randall Fincke serves as chief executive officer of Advent Medical Products. In this capacity, Randall Fincke oversees a number of projects, including devices for use by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel.

EMS personnel in the field often face challenges communicating with hospitals and with one another In disaster situations. However, thanks to the allocation of the D-Block 700 MHz spectrum and the creation of FirstNet, a governing body, responders will soon gain the ability to leverage LTE (also known as 4G) via the nationwide public safety broadband network (NPSBN) for communications purposes using devices such as tablets and data applications.

The NPSBN, which operates for public safety use, will provide responders with communications channels that will not experience network overload. Thanks to developments by industry players, LTE networks and existing LMR networks will have interoperability for maximum flexibility.

Rolling out the NPSBN in a manner that allows for communication between responders will require multiband radios capable of running on the many frequencies used by emergency personnel. Such devices will allow for better collaboration during disaster situations.
