COIDUCTOH WAS LED August Emanuel of the Scatarri FIJI Under Wheels af His Train at Summerfield Bet midnight and daylight this morning Conductor Emanuel on the S A L was run over and instantly killed by his own train at Summer field a few mlnles south of Ocala I Captain Emanuel went through this city yesterday afternoon late and was I shifting some cars at Summerfield for- t his train He was on the rear end of the train which was backing up at a good rate of speed when the air hose sprung a leak it is thought for some- thing applied the emergency brake suddenly and gave the train such a Jerk that the conductor was pitch- ed ¬ headfirst off the car in front of the train The wheels passed over him severing the head entirely from the body Conductor Emanuel lived In Jack- sonville ¬ where he leaves a wife and four small children He was one of the best liked men on the eaboard I City Marshal DInkins who until the last few days was section boss here for the Seaboard says he has never met a man whom he liked better than I Mr Emanuel I The unfortunate conductor worked I for a number of years for the East Coast Railway and was only promoted- to conductor on the Seaboard about six months
