Teacher Induction Background
• Teacher Induction formally known as BTSA was initially launched in
California in 1988 and it’s support structures and mentoring requirements
have been adjusted several times since that time.
• It was most recently updated in December 2015 and continues to be an
effective system of support for new teachers.
• It is a requirement for school district’s in California to offer Induction
mentoring to new teachers as they clear their teaching credentials.
