Blog no 5 - In the Arts Space this week…

The grade 5 6 students were introduced to French Artist Henri Matisse who was known as

the “Edward Scissor-hand” of the artistic world. He used organic shapes and made coral like

cut-outs that become very revolutionary. His works are still to this day just as popular as

they were back in the twentieth century!

Students used mixed-media – felt, paint and paper to bring their masterpieces to life.

The grade 5 6 won the GOLD MEDAL this week with their Matisse inspired Olympic

Silhouettes! They made a huge effort to work together and get the artwork out on time!

Well done!

A big shout out to the following people:

Miss Filiz a MASSIVE THANK YOU for ALL your hard work!

Yara, Noora for using their recess to assist with the painting.

RIMA EL-SAYED, SARA Y, & LARA for using their lunch to help put the masterpieces

together.
