Julie SchulzePosition FounderYears in china 6Hometown Dallas, Texas, U.S.A.Favorite aspect of WorkIn addition to working alongside such dedicated teammates, as well as learning so-very-much from my fellow board members, my heart de-lights in watching New Song volunteers be transformed by joining us in our work. For many of these young professionals and univer-sity students, it’s their first experience with volunteerism. Not only do they plant seeds of love and life with those whom they serve, but they themselves are furthered along in their own journey of personal development.

LAURA CRAMERPosition Manager Fundraising & CommunicationsYears in china 1 Hometown Richmond, Virginia, U.S.AFavorite aspect of WorkBy partnering with other like-minded organiza-tions in Beijing and surrounding areas, I have the opportunity to witness a myriad of agencies and individuals committed to selflessly serving the people of China. Such passion and self-sacrifice is a daily encouragement and inspira-tion to my own life pursuits.

N ew Song believes that no person has to earn their worth. As humans, we all innately possess value; however, many people choose to base their value

on their title, position, bank account, physical beauty – or simply the opinion of others. None of these choices are stable, reliable, or secure.

By offering a variety of self-worth development education programs, we provide people with a fresh perspective on how to determine their value. Our programs focus on the concept that knowledge effects beliefs, and beliefs effect behavior. Through this progression, participants discover new levels of confidence andinternal security that lead to all manners of positive life outcomes.

T his program utilizes You Are Special, a book by Max Lucado, as the cornerstone for lectures, activities, small group sessions, and one-on-one

conversations. The overall objective of this program is for participants to come to know and believe that they are special. A variety of partnering organizations all with differing missions, have found YAS to be a dynamic addition to their current program offerings.

Somepeoplefinditcuriousthatsuchasimplebook, withsucha simple message, could have such a large impact. We think it demonstrates that in the midst of all the positive progress of modern life, many of the Chinese have forgotten the basic truth of the dignity and value of all mankind. The YAS Program simply serves as a reminder of such truths.

to date, over 15,000 people have received Yas programming along with their very own copy of You are special in mandarin.

“new song’s yas Program stands out as unique, needed

and effective. i applaud their devotion to the

people of china.”

✔ YAS broadened its reach from 7 to 9 provinces across China sharing the message with thousands more men, women, and children.

✔ 75% of surveyed participants reported sharing the YAS message with friends and family, indicating the significantmultiplicationfactoroftheprogram.

✔ over one hundred people were trained and certified as YAS instructors, ensuring exponential growth of total beneficiaries.

“ i really enjoyed hearing the you are special message, and i even shared it with my friends and husband... each of us has similarities and

differences that should be celebrated. ”

A n increase in rental prices has pushed several counseling operations to the outskirts of the city. Though high quality services and

training are still taking place via these organizations, there is an ever-expanding need to offer counseling services in the heart of Beijing. New Song is pleased to help meet this need by making our counseling

room available to the vast network of individuals and alliances that serve the Chinese and foreign population in Beijing and beyond.

Over the past year, a number of licensed counselors have spent over a hundred hours serving clients in our facility.

“Many thanks to new song for making this

important resource available. licensed counseling faces

many obstacles in china, and it is wonderful that new song is helping

to provide solutions to practical issues. Most of all, i appreciate the friendliness and professionalism of

new song’s team. They are kind, helpful and efficient! I know my clients

appreciate them too! i truly value our partnership.”

- regina ho, licensed counselor

“ Employment coaching at New Song was a beneficial and life-giving service for all who participated. For our clients, it helped bring into focus their career desires and aspirations, and in some cases led to new jobs and a more clear path to achieving their professional goals.

For new song, it helped to fund other areas of our organization, allowing for further reach of our self-worth development and licensed counseling programs to individuals that could otherwise not afford them.

it truly was a win for everyone involved! ”
