The national project of the Spanish DP

CHERRIES FOR EQUALITY

Has the following aims:

Sensitizing society as a whole and associates of the rural cooperatives in particular on equal opportunities between men and women

Training female associates of the cooperatives in leadership and management

Training women as human resources and as entrepreneurs Open ways to empowerment for women Making new female rural reference models visible

Reached trough the following actions:

A training programme for female associates of the cooperatives in leadership and management

Over 300 hours of professional training in occupations which can offer a professional future in the territory

A 400 hours course for 18 women with entrepreneurial initiatives

Microcredits for the starting up of entrepreneurial initiatives

A research on “Female reference models in leadership and management in the rural areas”.

The commitment of the society as a whole: “the people of the valleys in favour of equality”

DOING GENEALOGY

ACTIVITY: RESEARCH ON RURAL WOMEN ACTING AS REFERENT MODELS

Main objective

To find out women acting for other women as rural feminine leadership & management referent models in our territory, leading to pointing out new rural identities through a social genealogy.

Technical data

Research process with 4 steps:a. Discussion groups (one per valley) for the identification of referent modelsb. In depth interview or life history of the selected “models”c. Dissemination of their experienced. Social genealogy & conclusions: new rural identities

N. of participants

a. DGs: 5 groups, some 8 women per group = 40 womenb. Some 8 to 10 referent models

Results The discussion groups have led to the identification of at least 10 women who have acted or act as referent models for other women. Key words: social transgression, strength, empowerment, courage.

ACTIVITY: WAYS TO EMPOWERMENT: ACCES TO ICTs AND INFORMATION

SOCIETY

Main objective

To promote women’s empowerment through their access to ICTs and Information Society

Technical data

Aimed at women that have never used a computer (at least on their own). The aim is to make attractive their fist contact with computers, dismounting fears and prejudices.
