TALKS -SMART CITES Jørgen Randers, BI, professor in climate strategy, internationally known for the book “The Limits to Growth”. On June 1st, 2012 Randers' new book 2052 - A Global Forecast for the Next Forty Years was published. Randers serves on the board of several companies, such as Tomra in Norway, and on the sustainability boards of British Telecom in England and The Dow Chemical Company in USA. In 2005-06 he headed the Norwegian Commission on Low Emissions, which presented a report demonstrating how Norway could reduce her greenhouse gas emissions by 2/3 by 2050. Annemie Wyckmans, Associate Professor at NTNU (the Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and a climate spokesperson at the IEA (international Energy Agency). In 2009 she was won the prestigious DNB Nor award for talented young scientists for her work on sustainability and innovation. The award was handed out by the Norwegian Minister of Research. Dr. Igor Sartori is the main representative on behalf of SINTEF in the European EERA Joint Programme Smart Cities. He is an engineer with 8 years of experience in R&D projects, including building energy performance simulation, modeling of energy demand in the building stock, and design of zero emission buildings. He works steadily in the activities of the Norwegian FMEZEB Centre and participates as the national expert in the IEA (International Energy Agency). Carlo F. Ratti, is an Italian architect and engineer who practices in Italy, and teaches at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, USA, where he directs the MIT Senseable City Lab. With his team at SENSEable City Lab, MIT's Carlo Ratti makes cool things by sensing the data we create. He pulls from passive data sets, like the calls we make, the garbage we throw away, to create surprising visualizations of city life. And he and his team create dazzling interactive environments from moving water and flying light, powered by simple gestures caught through sensors. Cédric Bolloré, is founder and Director Industrial divisions of Autolib in Paris. Autolib’ is the first public service plan with electric vehicles to be developed in a large European metropolis. It’s a new way of thinking about the city and transport for millions of people, and an innovation in urban travel that will transform our experience of cities.
