Oktoberfest “modified” Countdown Our faithful, amazing “German Cooks” are preparing a great take-out dinner for you to keep our Oktoberfest tradition going in some new version this year. Be sure to reserve your meal count and time for pick up either online or after Mass this weekend. Sunday is the last day to reserve a dinner so call family and neighbors to plan an Oktoberfest Celebration at home. RAFFLE tickets ++++ $10,000!

Since we were not able to recruit you for volunteering to work the Ofest this year, we hope you are making extra strides in ticket sales. Or maybe you will buy 3-5 extra tickets for yourself this year since you will be spending so much less at the festival itself. The raffle will basical-ly be our main profit maker this year so thanks for help-ing us sell the limited 250 tickets available for this amaz-ing prize! In our Friday email (and our website) we sent you the link for raffle ticket purchase. Please forward this email to family and friends so they can support our event online. Thanks for your ongoing support! Fr. Jim Deiters

Parents! If you had a Baptism scheduled at our church during the months of April, May, June or July and have had to postpone, please call the parish office to re-schedule your child’s baptism if you are ready to do so.

Deacon Dennis will be holding a Baptismal Preparation Class on Sunday, September 13 from 12:30—1:30 for parents that would like to schedule a Baptism and have not attended a Bap-tism class at St. Clare. Please call the parish office if you have any questions regarding Baptism. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Save the Date! Our Prayer Service for Creation

and Pet Blessing on Sunday, Oct. 4 2 p.m. at the St. Clare Pavilion and Garden!

"In the Judaeo-Christian tradition, the word 'creation' has a broader meaning than 'nature,' for it has to do with God’s loving plan in which every creature has its own value and significance.

Nature is usually seen as a system which can be studied, understood and controlled, whereas crea-tion can only be understood as a gift from the out-stretched hand of the Father of all, and as a reality illuminated by the love which calls us together into universal communion." (Pope Francis, Laudato Si', 76).

Season of Creation Gardening and Landscaping Photo Project

The theme for this year's Season of Creation is "Jubilee for the Earth." To celebrate a proper rela-tionship to work and rest, we invite parishioners to send pictures of their landscaping and garden-ing projects that many of you have been engaging in during this time of social distancing to Matt Flynn ([email protected]). If you would like, you may also submit a sentence or two about how you have grown or developed a deeper appreciation of creation. We will use these to create a video slideshow for our parishioners to see.

Fr. Jim and St. Clare pastoral staff have taken the "Civilize It" pledge, and we think you should too!

Go to www.wearesaltandlight.org/civilize-it to pledge to engage in politics with civility, clarity (including a well-formed conscience), and compas-sion. Let's create an atmosphere in our community in which people are able to discuss politics and learn from each other, instead of being afraid of how peo-ple will react. Thank you!

• What emotion does each of the main characters evoke? Why? (Coach Boone, Coach Yoast, Gerry Bertier, Julius Campbell, others)

• What changes in the team during camp? After the return to school? During the season? Why?

• Which character best represents the community where you live? Why?

THE CORNERSTONE CATHOLIC SCRIPTURE STUDY 2020-21

The Gospel of St. Mark

Mark’s Gospel is filled with overflowing joy, highlighting for us Jesus’ deeply emotional humanity as well as the mystery of his divinity. Connect with others who are excited to study God’s Word and join in this transformational journey through this important book of the New Testament. First meeting will be Wednesday October 14th for more information contact Kristy Turner, [email protected]. More details can also be found on The Cornerstone website, www.thecornerstonecatholicscripturestudy.org.

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.” (Mark 1:14-15)

The Cornerstone Catholic Scripture Study, a Bible study that transforms participant’s hearts and minds, is inviting you to journey through the life of Christ, as shared in the Gospel of Mark.

Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Seventy-Seven Times.

When is enough enough? Can we be angry now?

When can we stop forgiving? If we have to forgive the same person the same thing seventy-seven times, can we stop at seventy-eight? No! Because, as Paul declares in Romans14, we live and die for God, to whom alone webelong. We do not live for ourselves.

Who needs my forgiveness? And what forgiveness do I need?

The Exaltation of the Holy Cross Monday, September 14

The Cross. Not long ago, August 30 to be exact, we were told by Jesus to take up the cross and follow. Take up my cross. Christians do fear the cross. Its emptiness manifests the risen presence of the Christ in our midst. This is why we em-brace it on Good Friday. What will I pick up, what will I embrace, what will I bear to follow Jesus?

Hopefor the

Journey (Corrected Date!)

Wednesday, September 23 (2:00 & 7:00 pm)
