Did you know?This beautiful essential oil comes from a small tree native to North Africa and some of the Arab countries. When the bark is damaged the tree exudes a resin in drops. The extraction from the resin by steam distillation produces an essential oil of clear to pale yellow colour.

Regarded for its relaxing and peaceful fragrance, Lavender is well-suited for many everyday applications. Though it has long

been valued for its calming properties, don’t underestimate the utility of this floral phenomenon.

Did you know?Lavender is the most universal of all the essential oils and it brings benefit to many conditions. The oil has been used for decades for its relaxing aroma and is often utilized in beauty and bath products. During the middle ages, lavender was considered an aphrodisiac was later used to treat headaches.

Researchers have found that the scent of lavender helps to ease anxiety and insomnia. One study from Britain’s University of Southampton tracked the sleep patterns of 10 adults for a week and found that sleeping in a lavender-scented room could improve sleep quality by up to 20%. Lavender is said to increase slow-wave sleep, the very deep slumber in which the heartbeat slows and muscles relax. A few drops on the pillow are believed to bring sound and restful slumber.

Did you know?Steam distilled from the flowers, leaves and stocks of the herb, lemon essential oil aroma is bright, penetrating and minty. The essential oil is refreshing, uplifting, invigorating, and both warming and cooling.

It takes 50 kilos of Eucalyptus globulus to yield 1 kilo of essential oil. Steamed distilled from the leaves and twigs of the eucalyptus plant, this essential oil has strong, spicy, penetrating properties. Eucalyptus oil commonly goes into consumer preparations of aftershaves, colognes, mouthwashes, liniments, and vapour rubs.

Recommendations (adults only): External use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes; if this happens, rinse thoroughly with vegetable oil. • Topical use: Mix 4 drops of essential oil in 20 ml of carrier oil for topical usage. Apply to affected area up to 3 times per day. Do not use essential oils undiluted. • Bath: Add 2-8 drops of undiluted essential oil with the same amount of shampoo or liquid soap before adding it to the bath. Mix the water gently. For maximum benefit, remain in the bath for 10 minutes. Use 2 drops of undiluted essential oil the first time and increase by 1 drop per bath up to a maximum of 8 drops. Use once daily. • Direct inhalation: Apply 1-6 drops of undiluted essential oil to a handkerchief/tissue and inhale occasionally. Up to 3 times per day. • Steam inhalation: Add 3-12 drops of undiluted essential oil to a bowl of steaming water/facial steamer. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5-10 minutes. Up to 3 times per day.

• Compresses: Add 2 drops of undiluted essential oil to 500 ml of warm water. Mix by shaking in a bottle and immediately soak the compress in the mixture. Squeeze lightly, apply the compress to the skin, and cover with clothes and/or towelling. Leave for 2 to 4 hours. Up to 3 times per day.
