Governing Council News

We had our first AGM and Governing Council meeting for the year on Tuesday 27th February. We would like to thank the returning members for agreeing to stay on our council and also welcome our new members. It will be great to have every-one’s input this year. Some items discussed were: partially replacing back playground Environmental Studies around Yatco Lagoon

Mother’s Day Fundraising stall

Hi everyone Want to be a great parent? Want to raise a happy, healthy, well behaved kid? Want to live in

a home where discipline becomes unnecessary? The secret is to create a close connection with your child. It isn't enough to tell our children that we love them. We need to put our love into action every day for them to feel it. But what does it mean, "putting our love into action"? Mostly, it means making that connection with our child our highest priority. Love in action means:

*paying thoughtful attention to your child *seeing things from your child's point of view *remembering that this child who sometimes drives you crazy is still precious and carries much hope. This takes a lot of energy to really engage and be fully present with them. Remember that almost all parents whose children have grown up say they wish they had spent more time with there kids. But what does being fully present mean? Being present means paying attention . Like a marriage or a friendship, your relationship with your child needs positive at-tention to thrive. Attention=love. Next time I will elaborate on the foundational things you can do to make this happen.

Upper Primary Classroom Talk At our evening assembly this week, our students got to showcase some of their learning, which included what they have been doing in Maths. This involved the students setting up some stalls to sell products they had made.

In Ms Miller’s numeracy group, we have been working on financial literacy. We had to make a budget, market and make a product and sell it for profit. We had to come up with a business name, logo, flyers and business cards to advertise our product. Our products were on sale at the evening assembly. Now we are calculating our profit and loss and creating a spreadsheet to show our calculations & earnings. Anise Piltz, Yr 6 At the assembly, the students also had some of their artwork on display. They are currently studying Surrealism and in particular the artist Salvador Dali. Each student had to choose one of his pieces and copy it into their sketch books. From here they then had to plan how to re-create this artwork as a 3-Dimensional piece. These are still being completed, so stay tuned for the final pieces of artwork!
