Memoryverse‘TheCross’.Havealargecrossdrawnontoalargepieceofpaperorcard.Foldthecrossattheboxes.Writepartsofthememoryverseintoeachbox,readingdownfromthetop,acrossthemiddleanddowntothebottom.Letallthechildrensaythememoryverse,thenfoldoverapieceofthecrosstohidesomeofthewordsandaskthechildrentorepeatthememoryverse.Continueuntilthereisonlyonesquareleft.

Backgroundinfo:
JesusbeganhislastweekonEarthridingintoJerusalemonadonkey!OnPalmSundaywecelebrateJesus’triumphalentry-thisisthesaviouroftheworld,theMessiahanditmarkstheweekbeforeJesus’resurrection.
ThiseventisparticularlyimportantbecauseitisoneofthefewtimesthatJesus’gloryisrecognisedonEarth.
HisentranceintoJerusalemfulfilledtheprophesiesinIsaiah62andZephaniah9:9.Thesewouldhavebeenwell-knowntotheJewsandwouldhavemarkedJesusasthecomingKingandMessiah.
JesusdidnotenterJerusaleminthewaywewouldexpectofaking,insteadheentersonacoltofadonkey.Hefullyshowshishumbleness,meeknessandpovertyinthisaction,Jesusdidnotcomeshowinghiskingshipinstateceremonyoralavishentrance.Incompletecontrast,itishispeaceandhumilitythatmarkhimastheMessiah.
Despitethis,thesesamepeoplewhowelcomedJesusinto Jerusalemwouldbethesamewhoscreamedforhimtobecrucifiedonlyafewdayslater.
WhentheJewsbelievedthatJesuswouldfreethemfromtheoccupyingforce,theRomans,theywerehappytocelebrateHim,butassoonastheyrealisedthatJesuswasnotgoingtowageawaragainsttheirenemiestheylostfaithandturnedagainstHim.
