Newly Established Idioms through the Blending of Semantically Similar Idioms take care for, take care about and care of AiInoue 1. Introduction The information age has generated new words and new phraseologi cal units (defined as repeatedly-used phrases consisting of at least two words, hence PUs) being developed through from a combination of existing words, making it easy to understand the meanings and the features. However, as many PUs behave uniquely in certain contexts in ways that are often beyond common grammatical rules or linguistic theories, it is often difficult to understand their actual behaviour. While dictionaries have attempted to describe the contextual usages for PUs, quantitative and qualitative research has proven insufficient in identifying the actual behaviour of the PUs. Previous research has attempted to deal with newly-observed PUs, but has tended to be restricted by rudimentary theoretical phraseology as to the types of processes involved in how word-combinations become unique PUs. To overcome previous rudimentary analyses, Inoue (2016) examines the inner features of PUs in terms of types, processes and criteria for word-combinations. The focal point of this study is idioms, which have been classified as a PU subcategory (Please see Inoue (2007) on the PU subcategories and associated explanations)^ and have generally been defined as fixed, semantic, non-transparent word-combinations; however, newly-formed idioms have not yet been fully examined because of the traditional notion that idioms cannot change semantically or syntactically. For example, take care for, take care about and care of, all of which

Bachelor level - Three year course

Jazz Drums

Objectives:

Completing the courses related to the Jazz Drums First Level Academic Diploma, the students acquire the necessary cultural knowledge and technical skills to develop their artistic profile. In order to achieve this goal, they are expected to study the most representative repertoire of the instrument, including ensemble music for various groups. These objectives will also be pursued by means of ear training practices and development of memorization techniques, combined with the study and application of different music analysis methods contextualized in their proper historical period. According to the specificity of the course, they will develop improvisation skills. Further target of the course is adequate mastering of postural and emotional techniques. At the end of the three-year degree, students are expected to acquire in-depth knowledge of the stylistic, historical and aesthetic aspects related to their specific study plan. Furthermore, they are expected to acquire adequate expertise about music computer technologies and a second language of the European Union.

Access to further study:

The completion of the bachelor's degree programme allows the student to attend post-graduate programmes such as the Diploma accademico di II livello, Diploma accademico di specializzazione 1, Diploma di perfezionamento, or any other European master level programme in music and arts (7th EQF level).

Admission requirements:

Prerequisite to submit the application for any bachelor level course of Conservatory is to hold a high school diploma (5th level EQF). The admission depends on the entrance exam results and the assessment of the candidate’s previous musical education. Additional course assignments: Depending on the entrance exam results, some additional courses may be assigned to fill in any specific gap in the student's background.

Entrance exam: a) Italian language skill assessment (only for foreign candidates). At the jury's discretion, the assessment can be part of the following tests. Foreign candidates holding an Italian high school diploma are exempt from the assessment. b) Assessment of the candidate’s cultural and musical educational level, with a particular

focus on: 1) music history; 2) theory, rhythmics and musical perception; 3) harmony theory and musical analysis. Candidates holding an Italian pre-academic C level certificate (or equivalent) related to any of the above subjects are exempt from the respective assessment. c) Performance test (the jury can decide to listen only to a part of the programme and can interrupt the performance):

1) Written test on jazz-specific subjects. 2) Performance test - playing and improvising: two tunes (one fast, one slow)

chosen by the student, and that are part of the American Songbook or have become part of the standard repertoire, and/or are part of the songs recorded by Jamie Aebersold. The students are required to bring their own rhythm section, or bring an Aebersold Play along.

3) Listening test: recognition of musical styles, and other general musical parameters.

4) Specific ear-training test: the student is required to recognise a selection of intervals, harmonies, melodies and rhythms.

d) Sight reading test. e) Discussion of general and musical topics, as well as of the personal motivations of the
