The New DIANA MeshEditor
History
TheoriginalDIANAuserinterfacewasiDIANA.
Utilising this product, the user was able to
accessallofthefunctionalityofDIANA-while
in the process of being replaced by the new
MeshEdit,iDIANAisstillavailable.
Sevenyearsagowesought tobringouruser
interfaceuptodatewiththeintroductionofthe
MIDAS FX+ for DIANA pre-/post-processor.
Thisgaveourusersamodern,windowsbased,
environmentwithinwhichtheycouldinputtheir
modelandprocessthemodelresults.However,
usersstillneededtousethe in-builtMeshEdit
tosetupandruntheanalysis.
Forsometime,wehavefelttheneedtoimprove
upon this toprovideouruserswitha stream-
linedprocess from thesettingupofgeometry
toprocessingofresults.
Where we are now
In order to accomplish our goal TNO DIANA
BV tookonanexperienced teamofgraphical
user interface developers who have worked
alongside the DIANA developers to create
thenewMeshEdit.TheMeshEdit is still in its
infancy,butalreadywefeelit’sworthdistribut-
ingtobothourexistingandnewcustomers.
As mentioned above, the “all new” MeshEdit
hasbeendesignedwithinputfromtheDIANA
developer team,butnotonly them -wehave
listenedtoourusersandimplementedmanyof
therequestedfeatureshighlightedbythem.
WiththereleaseofDIANA9.5,theoldMeshEdit
isreplacedbythisnewwindowsbasedsystem.

FX for DIANAforadvancedpost-processing
Users can automatically import their model
fromFX+ forDIANA (or from iDIANA). Once
imported,thenewinterfacecanbeusedtoset

• Supportandloadingdefinition
• Materialsdefinition
• Analysiscontroldefinition
• Runninganalysis
• Postprocessing
The Future
Whilst our users are getting used to the look
andfeelofthenewMeshEdit,wewillcontinue
implementing new features for each new
version. Ultimately, userswill beable to set
uptheirGeometry,carryoutcomplexmeshing,
addmaterials,boundaryconditionsandloads,
carry out sophisticated analyses and view/
analyseresultswithavarietyofoutputoptions.
